Ok, so if they say AFL official it must have been an umpire because all the other AFL officials are at the interchange. Is it possible he was just calling out a nickname or calling out to a player and the umps have just misheard him? Totally bizarre.

Reminds me of David Rodan's greatest moment where he broke clear from a half-forward pack and banged a long goal from 50... in the wrong direction.

It was inevitable that he would become a goal umpire, really. Maybe he is just waiting for the day someone else does it while he is between the sticks?

Sorry what are we angry about again? The fact that they pulled him up on it, the rule being stupid, AFL acting 2 weeks later or the fact that the media reported on it?

We ended up kicking it to him, but missed the target by 10 metres. It landed on the chest of the saints runner instead. Another turnover.

Funny, if he did that today, it would be a free kick on the goal line to the oppo... :( 

He broke the rules, a stay in the outer might remind him he is not a player.
