Understand they’ve got a few important players out but their starting 18 still looks threatening, albeit dropping away in quality on the interchange.

Based on our last 5 weeks I see no reason for any confidence whatsoever. Just hope we turn up and silence their likely dominant crowd early on, and build into the game from there.

Well the stats don’t lie. To me, there is an attitudinal issue at the club. Just not prepared to work to the level required. You could probably come up with a few reasons why that is, off field issues, staffing issues (coaching), fitness maybe. Other than Gawn, Petracca and McVee, the rest (first year players excluded) have gone backwards.

No I don't think he did. You suggested a source very close to the players, and the best 'elaboration' you offered was the stats don't lie, and your opinion.

I agree in that the stats don't lie, but this isn't elaborating on the issues that you claim are there and that you have inside information on.

Can any gamblers offer insight why the Dees have come in so strongly in the last 12 hours?

Do the professional punters have some insider info or is it all sentiment? @binman

I was elaborating (offering my opinion) on what Jaded No More said that we had bigger issues if it was the case that the players cracked the sads  because of the accom and facilities. I can assure you that this is what the source said. You can either believe it or not. I do.

Your source is as dumb AF to offer that as an excuse. Sounds like the sort of mischievous rumour a pies supporter would start.

Love this place when people come in to offer some insight whether that's through their sources or whatever and get absolutely smashed for passing on information.

Classic Demonland.

It will be very interesting to see how the players approach this game from an attitude perspective. I know last week they weren’t happy about the standard of accommodation and ground facilities (maybe sending a message to the club?), and played accordingly. Unprofessional you could argue. Another mediocre performance today, and it will be time to change something.

I heard they saw this article and responded to the club accordingly

Continuing to come in. $1.75 now.

My opinion, sentiment wouldn’t move the market that much. I did see we were as much as $2.05.

I was leaving it up to interpretation

Not a gambler but noticed just now Dee's firming still.

Fascinating

Depends on the quality of information.

Is it just me or is there a paucity of snow-related humour since the Coodabeens went the way of The Kevin Dennis Football show?

General feeling is Demons will bounce back.

Also Pies missing 4 main fwds and 3 of their top 5 mids. who will score their goals?

no insider info imo

A pies supporter wouldn’t be that clever

Even money odds the difference is only 3.5 points.  That difference does not in any shape or form look at 1.75. To 2.08. The sims do not work.
less than a goal. Yes it could be that close

but MFCSS. Says no

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
