I hope this is a sarcastic post… ever since I joined the Farcebook Flat Earth Society page, I seem to have lost the ability to discern between earnestness and jest!

I also forgot to add that it was an early start time and that the Freo boys we're playing a bit rough.

One more thing to pile on today, why did it feel we were the away team today?

I saw way too many purple jumpers around. How can that be called a home game in a neutral ground?

My kids commented on arrival on how few Dockers fans there were and I agree with them, way more Demons fans

Goodwin press conference:

Inconsistency is the issue. Nothing to do with personnel.

I reckon consistency is the new learnings.

(Sure, never gives anything away at the press conference. I get that - but that loss (second shocker in 3 weeks) needed a bit more, I reckon)

The drafting of McAdam is a bust. He has no penetration in his kicking and cannot hit up a target from 20m away. Lachie Hunter mkll.

Worse than Josh schache. Did nothing at Adelaide. Did not get along with the medicos there. Makes me so furious we recruited him. Offers nothing, lazy, soft and weak

I had a vivid dream in 2017 we played off against the peptides at some stage in the future in a GF and the game was up for grabs with 5 minutes to go as we were heading towards our goals (Punt Rd end).

With the Peptides showing something i thought it might be this season but after today....pffft

Should we have extended Goodwin last year? We had to, 3 top 4 finishes in a row including a flag, no way he was getting sacked. And I don’t think sacking him now is the answer, rebuilding the list is the answer. Depth is non-existent. We haven’t been able to top up like the tigers or cats did, we rode it to try and win another flag and it seems like we rode it too long.

I also don’t think it’s the answer.

I’m curious as to why some think this is the answer and who they think should replace him. @ElDiablo14… you’ve been loudly n proudly calling for Goody to be sacked. I’ve lost count of how many times you’ve said it in just the last two hours, not to mention the love heart reactions you’re quick to give others who also say it. And that’s fine: blah blah entitled blah blah opinion. Maybe you can answer my questions: why is sacking Goody the answer? And who should replace him? TIA 👍🏽

McAdam with a fully compromised pre season and two part games in the VFL has been thrown to the wolves. Obvious he's been no where near ready to play seniors

If there is any coach replacement to be done, it should be at Casey. We need s strong VFL team, as we had before, and Casey started sliding the minute it changed coaches.

A strong VFL team, thoroughly trained in the system, provides the base for success. And I don't think it is about personnel; it is about how the players operate within the system.

I was a proponent of Yze becoming Goodwin's replacement in the next couple of years. Didn't expect the team to drop off so soon.

Today?

I have no idea, I just have lost all confidence in Goodwin as a good leader for this team moving forward. Just have to look at how the player were walking around the ground today, while Freo were flying!.

I wish I had the answer who'd be better, but don't have one. Just generally tired of the same [censored].

You forget to include Marty Hore, and that we gave up a heap of draft capital to move up 2 spots to get Tholstrup.

I've called out Lamb over our trade weeks for the past 2 years, but the sycophants on here won't accept any criticism of our officials.

I know it’s grossly unfair to focus on one player after that train wreck, but if McAdam is picked again next week I may vomit with rage.

We keep saying that, yer teams like Collingwood or Carlton keep recruiting top talent. We haven't been able to bring a half decent player since 2022.

Love that our skip faces the camera after this type of loss. Many more inside the team should learn from him.

Nothing to do with Goodwin. Turnovers, contested possession, clearances ... all on the players. Though even there, we just don't have the cattle and there are players out there who are out of their depth.

No mate DEAD WRONG, The coach selects the players and skills them up and has a game plan ready to go. This is ALL ON GOODWIN, KATE ROFFEY, and all other Acolytes!

Today consolidated 4 themes that have emerged and been growing over the past 2 years, but on full display this year win, lose or draw.

Our kicking skills are poor. Really poor. We hand the ball over unpressured time and time again. Today was foul. Our foot skills lack penetration, favour opposition interception, but it is often covered up by Petracca or Bowey getting one right making us froth at the mouth. And we have not recruited good foot skill players in the last 3 years.

Our forward line is weak. I have some compassion for Fritsch but even he this year has had moments of disinterest and weak effort. Kozzie is too much flash and not enough result. Petty forward (which I thought was a very good idea) is an epic fail. Singe basic forward error: lack of movement. Stationary targets to create scores from stoppages. And unfortunately I think this part of our game plan. We lack presence.

Our midfield is struggling. There is a part of me that cannot believe this to be true, but the results don't lie. We often now get beaten badly at stoppages and centre bounces, and teams annihilate us by handballing forward. Gus was way more important than we thought, with Sparrow, ANB, Rivers, Kozzie and others not being given time to develop in there.

Our backline covers over many cracks

I do NOT believe it is time to sack Goodwin, play the kids blah, blah, blah. I have watched a lot of Casey games and apart from Jefferson and Verrall developing nicely, there is no-one forcing the door down for an AFL game.

I don't think there is a single answer, but I would love the boys to find a fire in the belly again, which is the main thing lacking. A John Northey rant. The aggro of Shwartz or Grinter or Neitz. No thuggery, but a fierceness, a line in the sand. Jakovich arrogance.

Sadly, the 2024 premiership is probably beyond us now.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
