    Yeah the highlights were just ok, but his rate of improvement from last year to this season has been strong

    he gets to the right spots to impact the contest, which is half the battle as a key forward

    Is Kentfield the sticky handed key forward we've been crying out for? Both Jeffo and JvR get their hands to them at AFL level but can't make them stick.

    Hoping the new coach tries JVR as a KPD. If you can't mark it, just punch it. A lot of clubs saw him ending up as a defender in his draft year, it would not be a case of a failed key forward being tried in defence, it was genuinely 50/50 where a club would play him once they drafted him, because he played just as well down back as forward in his U18 year.

    Gerard Healy has been very strong earlier in the year on JVR being an excellent KPD for the future.

    Very limited preseason and serious illness so his efforts this year are really very encouraging. Love the fact he seems to have a bit of mongrel - something we've really lacked in the F50 and has a decent set shot routine.

    Personally, if I was the incoming coach I'd be thinking he has potential to be the tall strong bodied KPF we have been hoping for. Get him in the gym and get him super fit over summer and let him have a crack early next year.

    Jefferson is looking unlikely at this time (unreliable kick and is timid as a church mouse)

    JVR wants to wrestle rather than lead like a true forward - I'm starting to think he might evolve into a KPD in time with the query being on closing speed

    My post in June was asking “play Kentfield as a key forward”. Somehow strangely our Forum must be read. He’s played as a key forward over the past 5 games and performed really well !!!

    Luker has loads of potential. A good pre season will see him in contention for a game.

    We lack a strong tall, aggressive KPF who can make space via strength, timing of body use and speed.

    The problem is his turning circle, slow skills/decision making and lack of leap would hurt him down back as much as they do forward.

    But to play off a forward and crash through packs he’d have some value and he’d find some easier marks.

    He reminds me of Caminiti at the Saints. Who’s been just fine as a key back, but probably depth in a good side.

    The big question is now he’s finished biking up if there’s more mobility and speed. Lumps just don’t cut it at afl level unless you’re Hawkins level lump

    Really starting to believe Luker is our most talented key forward, just a matter of getting the mind and body to afl level. Clean skills, clunking hands, times his leads and jumps.

    Jeffo might be second most talented too and he’s got tricks that can combine well with Luker too.

    I’d want a coach that really believes in these 2 if they do the work building their bodies to afl level.

    Was it glandular fever he had for a long time that caused him to drop a ton of weight over the off-season?

    Either way, off no pre-season, he is showing good signs with a huge upside if he gets a clean run at it over this coming pre-season.

    He had double pneumonia exacerbated by complications. He was gravely ill for weeks.
