How good is Kozzie?!ย

Also, itโ€™s strange seeing those world-beating giants the Eagles 46-2 down right nowโ€ฆย

Good quarter Dees! Much more polish and a few really good goals!

Great response Dees, hurting them where it mattersย

I am just soooo sick of all the positive spin put on "defensive structures", and we the Dees are among the worst. The 18 player defensive zone waiting for a turnover is such boring football. This game is atrocious, even if it is starting to open up now because we have decided to run and carry, and take some risks.ย

Good that we are winning and winning well though.

Itโ€™s the number one priority in every team game all over the worldโ€ฆ

Much better quarter.ย  Now just repeat that & put the foot down & smash it home in the final quarterย

Look so much better when we move the ball with speedย

TMac great pass Swallow and McCadam butchered it.

Smacca did what a good forward should do.ย  Sparrow ran into his leading lane and mucked it

Along with Gawn. Great leadership today by the two leadersย

I'd give it to Nibbler then Max.

Got to give credit where it's due, way better quarter. Kozzie in the middle more often pleaseย

Much better. If we can keep that quality up throughout the game (not intensity as itโ€™s not sustainable), we would be right every week.ย

Hereโ€™s the test:

ย Letโ€™s bring this home. Percentage looks like it will be really important this year, so big wins when we can get them are crucial.ย

Roo must hold the record for getting his hands to the ball without marking.ย

Far better quarter, the margin now reflective of the difference between the two teams. Hopefully we run it out and win by 50+.

Put them to the sword.

Ever get the feeling Kozzi is our most important player?

when we are stagnant he changes things

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven Kingโ€™s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
