At this point Blues have lost 5.2%

Sydney are good

We should have beaten Carlton

Lol @ harry Mackay throwing a bloke, hearing the whistle and jogging backwards waiting for the ball only to realise it wasn't his free

It begs the question, why cant we beat these pretenders?

Because we were ot good enough for a half of footy. Our midfield is wildly out of form.

Sydney are the team to beat. There is no doubt about it. Thank goodness grand finals are not played on that postage stamp ground.

Very important to finish top 2 or on the non Sydney side of the draw to avoid playing them at home.

That’s a Sydney members only section. We sit in the pocket a few bays around from them.

Appreciate that, not sure how that’s fair though.

Winning the center.

Winning loose ball contested

Winning more of the 1 v 1s

Holding up across HB

The Swans have a number of VG running mid types in size who are strong at the contest, over the ball and able to burst out of congestion

Their entries inside are mostly either quick kicks / bombs to the square and/or looking to target a free player  near the hot zones after going wide via the flanks.

If the ball hits the deck inside 50 they're super competitive here also and quick to pounce if it gets to the outside

Gonna be very hard to beat if they hold form and not too many injuries

LOL. At this rate Carlton will finish this weekend 10th with a % under 100.

Blues have dropped 6% and growing

WCW likely to have an answer. Probably the same reason that the Cats, prior to the new stand being built, had the away cheer squad on the flank. For some reason seats behind the goals are highly sought after. I reckon the GFC were told by the AFL they had to hand over one end (for TV purposes) when the new stand was built.

At Mordor we sat on the wing (next to the race, absolutely freezing) while construction of the new stand was underway. Now that it’s complete, the Geelong cheer squad sit behind the goals in the new stand and opposition cheer squads sit in their old bay.

We did beat them for 3 quarters, by 37 points, and they were absolutely perfect for the other.

Bedford Jordan and Grundy, would love that depth, I think Jordan plays a more accountable game than Sparrow. Good luck to them all, not complaining just observing.

very impressive from the Swans.

always enjoyable watching Carlton get thumped

Sydney haven’t had their captain(Mills) all season. He’s back in the coming weeks. Plus they are without their best defender tonight too. I had thought they were over rated, time to have a rethink.

They are playing very good now. But so were GWS before they hit a wall. Look at Geelong 3 on the trot now. Can happen anytime. The only time you want to start to look invincible is 2 weeks from finals not now.

The only advantage for them is to manage the load of their players. So they are fresh going into finals.

Carlton getting a solid reality check here

We should have iced those dorks last wk 😔

Looking back, aside from the tigers’ win against the swans, we have been the closest to them - with a 22 point loss - and we played like TRASH - and were in it at 3Q (2 points down) before they ran away with it in the conditions.

Gives some comfort I guess.

Anyway, good to see the blues getting smoked. Just wish we did it!

I know the set up coz I live 25km from the ground and a heap of my mates are Cats’ members. Whenever they’ve built a new stand they’ve relocated supporter groups, usually to a better spot.

We could be 4 points and more than 20% clear of the blues by the end of the round.

That’s the thing. They kicked every goal going forward in that first quarter.

I know it’s a constant source of frustration here, but on expected score we won that game by 20+ points.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
