To fit in with some of the silly suggestions on this thread I say Bowsa to give him a chop out Jaded.

Yea I thought Billings finally showed some flair. He showed some good use of the ball in finding teammates. Something people have argued his biggest skill, so it was good to see.ย  I really would like to see Woey get a full game and preferably not defending.ย

So Windsor is fun and all on the wing, and obviously the future. But I have wondered if weโ€™ve lacked that experienced professional ability to end up in the right place at the right time to defend f50 rebounds and enter well. Potentially something the more wily hunter or billingโ€™s could add.ย
I still think windsors assets are best 23 but with a higher % rotation to an experienced player.ย

Great to see McAdam get his chance.

I also think Dirk could be given a nod again.ย

Who is "Dirk"?

I like the cut of McAdam's jib. If he can keep himself fit he'll add some much-needed spark up forward for the rest of the season.

No player at the FC offers what McAdam has to offer

Plays much taller than he is which is going to cause headaches for the opposition defenders

Frees up Kozzy and Fritsch imo

Again, and i promise im not being facetious, do you mean if you were a selector or that you think goody thinks salo is not a lock in our best side?

I ask, because they are two different things.

I think a fit and healthy Salem is (especially if he can play midfield) but an unfit, out of form Salem isnโ€™t and itโ€™s no longer time to just pretend the former and latter are the same things.

So, on the back of a second decent soft tissue injury for the year it would be madness to roll him out without at least one VFL hit out.

He needs the same return to playing AFL time frame as McAdam who also had 2+ soft tissues to start this year.

Interesting comment from Goody about McAdam going back to the start with his body to get fit, sounds like they had to put some work in to get him going.

I think Salemโ€™s in a different situation, his previous issues were thyroid not hammy, plus heโ€™s already had extra time over a regulation hammy recovery. I think if the hammy is fine heโ€™ll straight come in like others in recent times, not via the vfl. Heโ€™s best 22.ย

Iโ€™m curious, and Iโ€™m also not being facetious, do you believe that every comment which expresses the authorโ€™s opinion should be prefaced by โ€œin my opinionโ€ ?

I guess itโ€™s probably BBB if not Fullarton for JVR and in combination with McAdam for Disco means Tracc is back on ball.

Can Tommy Sparrow ruck 5 minutes a quarter against Bailey or Jack Williams?

Not in my opinion.

He had a hammy in preseason, he had another hammy in the first minute against Brisbane. That to me means he needs a run at the lower intensity of Casey to build some confidence in his body and also for some touch. Heโ€™s looked slow when heโ€™s been underdone the last two years.

Fair, didnโ€™t know about the preseason one. Still donโ€™t think heโ€™ll be at Casey though. ย

I can't see Woey being dropped as the game is in Perth, he has been sub several times and was one of our best when he came on against Carlton.

If anything, Chin could need a rest with his knee issues on a possible hard ground.

I would even have Woey in ahead of Billings.

yep, good thinking Redleg. I'd only have Billings ahead of Chandler if Chandler is injured. Billings good in the second half last week but Chin's pressure, speed and finishing has him ahead of JB IMO.ย

Definitely merit in Woey staying in and Billings missing to allow Salem to return in some capacity. Would necessitate Woey, Salem or Windsor as sub probably?ย

i wouldn't have thought the game's 'intensity' has any bearing on a player's propensity to copping a hamstring strain but @Webber is more likely to know

He plays like Melksham locks down on a Defender in Marking situations if he's least favoured to take the mark and brings it to ground.

He's sense for goal is 2nd to none.

we could definitely use more of that

I donโ€™t think McAdam playing has any relevance to whether Salem is in this week. If heโ€™s fit, he plays. Probably at the expense of Woewodin.

More meant, not sure about anyone being omitted as the other in will be a tall. Woey should be safe for another week IMO

Yep you were right & I end up looking like a gooseย

Mind you his selection totally contradicts Goody's earlier comments that McAdam would not play until he had several Casey games under his belt.

Let's hope this works out better than the Petty or Bowey returns when they were clearly underdone.

No, not every comment of course.ย

In most circumstances it's clear from the context it is a posters opinion or an assertion of fact.

Personally, I often preface comments with 'in my opinion' it used to do the infamous Lord Nev's head in.

But I do so to minimise confusion.ย

For example, in my opinion salo is 100% in Goody's best 22 and 100% is a lock when he is fit.

Which is a completely different conversation to whether I personally think salo isย best 22.

Which, by the by, in my opinion he is.

Edited by binman

I'd like to see - in: BBB and Kolt.

Go smaller with focus on forward half pressure. Trac CHF for most of game, Rivers and Salem rotate thru centre bounces.ย

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
