3 backs, 2 wings and the best ruck in the competition!

Again, at the game and haven't seen a replay or read any commentary.

6. Lever - was outstanding in the air and sure on the ground.

5. May - again controlled Hawkins, although the Tomahawk is rapidly coming to the end.

4. Gawn - a quiet first half by his monumental standards, but dominated when it mattered and was easily the most influential player on the ground in the last quarter - not for the first time in his career he was the difference.

3. Petty - great to see him hit the packs hard with arms extended.

2. Oliver - welcome back Clarry!

1. McDonald - although Cameron contributed to his quiet night with some unbelievable misses, Tom had the leg rope pretty tight all night.

I really rated Viney, Windsor and Langdon.  The defensive efforts of Chandler, Pickett and Neal-Bullen stood out.  Petracca seemed off, but I notice some people have him in the votes so I'll watch for that on the replay.

6. Gawn

5. Lever

4. Langdon

3. Petty

2. May

1. Fritsch

McDonald, Oliver, Windsor, Pickett & McVee unlucky. In fact nearly everyone played their roles very well.

6 - Steven May - The Rock

5 - Jake Lever - our Interceptor

4 - Captain Max Gawn

3 - Ed Langdon, welcome back Mr Ed.

2 - Caleb Windsor, we have really found one here.

1 - Clayton Oliver, 31 touches and got better the longer the game went.

Apologies to  Fritta (GOTY), TMac, JV, Kozzie, Tracc, Petty, Knuckles McVee, Blake Howes, Kade, Woey, Trent Rivers and Jack Billings.

6. Lever.

5. Gawn.

Hard to fit them all in, but Fritsch, Oliver and McDonald honourable mentions.

Good to see the Footy Show gave it to the HS today for failing to include Gawn in the best player list.  Their votes by the way went to Lever(9), May(8), Z. Guthrie(8) and Gawn(8).

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
