Haven't seen Goody's presser yet, what did he have to say?

I know people will rave about Fritta's goal and yes it was the sealer, but Maxy's goal was just as important. It was brilliant and got the crowd up. Gee I always said when the OX retired it would be a sad day. When Max retires I'll be a blubbering mess.

Not back from where?

And what more do you think we need to do to get “there”?

You don’t think we’re a contender?

At what point do you consider us ‘back’?

Just on Viney he looked dead early in the 2nd and within 10 seconds was up and running it off. He is not human.

It was a high hit, but because he gets up after twitching on the ground for a while, the commentators just go, oh he's made of steel. He was still hit high.

Agree with many others. This bloke never gives credit to the opposition. Sore loser.

Level 2A?

I wish. Ground level. We’ve all complained to the MCG staff all year and they don’t care, so I need the club to intervene - as it’s their product that’s being diminished to the point of having no value.

Our defenders (including the newbies) and our defensive systems.  The best by how far? …. and we still have Bowser and Salo to return!

Our defence is a strong as ever. Our midfield is not as powerful as it was in 2021, nor our attack anywhere near as potent.

Weve been found wanting in our forward line the past 2 finals campaigns. If that starts to click and our midfield stays fresh, we’re as good a shot as any. But it’s a long season, with many twists and turns to come. There is also luck which cannot be controlled.

I think I peed a little when time stopped for Fritsch's goal.

Speaking of whom; despite operating in a forward structure alongside some really struggling talls, and having a pretty patchy start to the season that I'm sure Fritsch himself would be disappointed with, he's now sitting on 21 goals 9 behinds, fourth in the Coleman medal behind only Curnow (25), Hogan (24) and McKay (22).

Nice to see a few of our key players really look like themselves again, most visibly Oliver and Pickett. Petty rediscovered his energy which was a joy to see.

Still an issue with a long 'tail' of players not really getting into the game as much as they ought to, but hey, we defeated the undefeated despite that, and it is mostly younger players who can find their way or be shuffled as the season reveals its secrets.

6-2 after eight rounds when I was mentally prepared for an even split by this point of the season. F'n'ay.

Also, the pancakes were excellent and plentiful.

I think travelling all the way from Geelong really put us off.

If you set 2021 as the standard you will be disappointed. That season was elite.

Do you think we are a contender in 2023 or not?

Graduated top of class at the Serena Williams school of press conferences.

Do you all think Danger would have made a difference?

Sure. Presumably so did our 3 extra days rest.

Maybe Bowey, Salem or Melksham would have too?

It's great seeing the young fellas build confidence and getting better each week. Windsor, McVee, Howes and Woey all putting in good performances. It will be tough at selection soon with Bowey, McAdam, Hunter and Salem not far off a return.

At this stage I'd swap McAdam for Billings for Carlton next week.

How good is Fritter’s body work. Very few in the league with his smarts as to where to be, but also how to use his body which is particularly significant given he’s not a big guy. Amazing forward. Given credit for sure, but largely unheralded.

Spot on  !

Sara love, you don’t need to tell everyone you don’t know anything about football. If you think this game wasn’t exciting you obviously hate finals.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
