Let's not go crazy. Might just be dropping back.

Not so crazy when Hawkins takes the rucking duties for boundary throw-ins in the forward line. Hawkins will be far too strong for van Rooyen. (I realise that van Rooyen will be rucking when Gawn is off the ground, of course, so we won't actually have a choice).

Thats when Tmac should be doing it and JVR takes Tmacs opponent.

Great to see Goodwin talking about the domestic violence issue in his presser.

Maybe such discussion DO have a place on a footy forum...

Goody confirmed in his presser that McAdam wouldn’t play against Carlton because it’s a short break off the Geelong game. A marathon not a sprint.

A bit disappointing he's missed 9 matches but understandable they're playing the long game.

Hopefully he'll debut for us in the WC game in round 10.

Appreciate the marathon mentality, obviously - but this is such a strange position.

It would make sense if McAdam was playing against the Cats - but he's not. So he could very well join the team, fresh, against the Blues for some much needed x-factor and firepower.

By all reports Melksham should be back by Kings Birthday. McAdam would want to get a good block of games in before then. I imagine that these two will be competing for the same spot or do you think they can play in the same team?

Assume Goody mean that McAdam will be playing in the VFL this week which is on Sunday and then the Carlton game is on the Thursday so only a 4 day break for McAdam meaning he would be no chance for the Blues game off 4 days given his current injury history.

He has to play in the 2s this week because he was on limited minutes in the 2s last week and he has to be able to prove he can get through a full game before playing in the 1s. Unless of course they start by using him as a sub.

That is a good point and makes a lot more sense (although I read that he wasn't sighted with the Casey group?). Am definitely in favour of him getting more minutes in the 2s to build up for a proper start in the main team. Would not be a total surprise if he was a sub for last qtr shenanigans. But that doesn't help to get good minutes in him, so the less likely option.

He wasn't with the Casey boys (Demon listed players only) and I didn't see him with the other players on the injury list (Salem, Bowey, Spargo & Melksham) who were doing some work with the trainers after the session.

Apparently domestic violence is a footy topic after all.

It is a societal problem, we need to do better.

Grown-ups can multi task after all.

The AFL is taking this on, we should too. @kev martin

Any thoughts on who could be the sub based on training today?

Based on our Bench (if that's where the sub is coming from) then it has to be between Laurie and Woey. Since Woey was played in Salem's position I would assume he will be given that role again this week. Therefore the sub is likely to be Laurie again.

Goody sounds very confident about this week. I get the feeling many plans have been worked out, hopefully the Players can implement

But i haven’t heard Simon this confident for a while

Hopefully my last post for a while.

It is difficult for me not to introduce social issues into discussions about footy.

I'd to thank those supporting me and encouraging me to continue.

Demonland contacted me and expressed that it wasn't the people I thought who got me censored. I apologise to any aspersions I alluded to concerning those who had contrary thoughts about what is posted.

I also apologise to Demonland full heartedly, they expressed that the subject matter is susceptible to get out of hand, at that is why subjects such a those brought up get deleted. They don't pander to any of those groups I suggested they pander too.

Thank you Demonland keep the good work going.

There's no need for an apology @kev martin

I'm open to discussing this topic, provided it's handled with civility and respect. It's a significant social issue.

However, it's important to acknowledge that discussions on some matters can sometimes become intense. This is why political topics are not allowed on Demonland. Granted this certainly isn't a political issue. We aim to prevent these intense debates from spilling into the footy discussions, which could potentially disrupt and close threads.

Our moderators lack the time and training to manage these issues to everyone's satisfaction.

In this instance, I had at least two women express discomfort and a feeling of unsafety due to the heated nature of the discussion in that thread, and they were not alone in their concerns.

Administering this website can be particularly stressful, especially this year, and I've come close to shutting it down several times.

I welcome discussions on the topic of domestic violence and societal violence against women. Anyone is free to initiate a thread on this matter. However, please be aware that if the discussion becomes too heated, it may be closed.

Goodwin appears confident. i like that. I think we'll beat them with a systems based approach.

Whilst I agree it's a football forum but we've got a woman dying every 4 days, stats would say men on this site are abusing woman.........the men on here have likely got a friend who abuses his partner so whilst maybe we don't discuss it here it's worth thinking about how we as men can do better, because doing nothing won't help.

I agree that it is a matter worth discussing.  The natural home for any such thread would be "General Discussion" board, which is intended for non-footy related topics.

I'd like to think we can play them both as they're different kind of players and offer different assets.

Melksham to play the defensive forward on the oppo's best defender such as Stewart or Andrews. However his offense is also weapon as he's a natural goal kicker.

Meanwhile McAdam is purely an attacking forward who can take a mark, either contested or roaming high up the field on the lead.

If both are to be regular fixtures, one of Turner, JVR, Petty or Chandler would need to lose their spot in the forward line. (I predict Petty finds his way back into defence by season end).

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
