I read this as the best Quarter that we have played this season…

Anyway, Petty is not replaced by Turner after one game from the XVIII.

Why not? He played 70% of one game. Bowey's been named and he only played 48% of one game!

Love your work Werridee! I keep imagining your house with different team lineups on with every window.

still searching for key forwards

JVR is jumping a lot but has dropped 90% of his attempts. We will keep him in at the promise of better times.
BBB is physically not up to week by week footy.  Save him for September??
Petty is not a natural forward and lacks confidence.  We are trying to turn a premiership defender into a patchwork forward.
TMCD looks more comfortable in defence but so did Petty and Petty makes less mistakes.
Schache was very soft and shown he’s a VFL quality player.
??? Jefferson is in development but looking very iffy right now.

others have not yet cemented places.  Salem started ok but was poor in games before getting injured. He will be back and in but I’m looking for huge improvement in him across pace and skills. Sparrow lacks pace and is not a half forward. Bench player on rotation. Chin is in and out.  Up and down. Bench at best.  Howes is versatile  and will be a player.    Billings is ok.  Just ok.  Woey jnr needs more games.

options.
Mcadam once fit can play half forward and kick goals.  We need more firepower.  Yes we will try Disco Turner.  Love his attitude to compete.
AMW must be given a chance soon.
Tholstrup is not ready yet.  More VFL time.

Bowey is a premiership winning player. Turner has taken three impressive marks, to good kicks, and one lucky handball.

I was just joking around.

It's an interesting exercise, I'/ think it is meant to be "what our best 22 is, based on past history and the first quarter of the season" but it could equally be interpreted as "our best 22 in 2024 so far".

If Bowey is there, we could also be making a case for Melksham and Brown if fit.

Brown has played and shown he’s a vital part of the team , then well dropped off and then nudda. He should be kept on ice until September

Geez Louise, I’m not peeping through his window or anything like that. No need to, I suppose. He flagrantly gets his best team out for all to see. Even starts a new thread for it. 🤭

I get the context in the comparison with Bowsa but your appraisal of Disco is harsh.

Looking forward for Bowey to come back.

In the pre season he was shaping up to be a K Coleman quarterback type elite kicker from half back that would set up the field.

To miss 9-10 weeks is a shocking result for what appeared to be a text book collarbone 4 week injury on the night.

BBP - you will be getting the "shocking injury management MFCCS" posters out of the woodwork.  I never recall any fractured clavicle being ready for the rigors of top grade footy in under 6-8 weeks.  Correct me if I am wrong.

Not having a go at the club for mismanagement or miscommunication. Just disappointed for the kid (and our defensive structure)

On the night it was assumed he'd done his collarbone, but unfortunately scans proved worse.

A bit like how I opened this thread thinking it was about the best all-in team effort we've had during a quarter of any match so far, that is precisely how your earlier post read.

He's loss is very underestimated among supporters.

I'm a huge wrap for him and I think he was going to be our designated elite distributor off half similar to as you you have already said in Kiddy Coleman.

His ability to pick out the right options up the field amongst the chaos is elite.

If it was me, I wouldn't even have him go through the VFL when he's ready to go. Straight unto the AFL side for me.

Uhm yeah, I also was joking. Clearly neither of us knows a joke. 🤷‍♀️

Gee, that ****** we've found at CHF is a gun.

IMHO no team in the AFL has a flawless list or * power in every position.   It's about making what you've got work.

"lucky" handball?

it was the most impressive handball of the game and very deliberate ... watch the replay

Agree DC I have watched it a number of times that handball had a touch of brilliance, no luck involved, he handled that ball like a 100 game star.

It was to be clear, we have not found a CHF or FF on a consistent basis.
JVR is young and we will persist but he needs to take the simple marks (dropping most marks at the moment). Petty is not the answer.  Schache is not the answer. Tmcd is not the answer.  Turner was good v Tigers but likely is makeshift (he’s really a prototype Lever interceptor). Jefferson is young and not developing as we would like.  Brown is on last very last legs.

We are competing against teams with quality key forwards Curnow-McKay, Daniher, Cameron-Hawkins, Hogan, Mihocek.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
