Huge chance Dees to make a huge statement.

One change only - Kozzie will be missed but the excitement of a new Kolt may almost cancel that out.  Certainly looks as dynamic and as strong as Kozz.  Will he make Kozz earn his return for ANZAC Eve?

Backline settled and working beautifully as a UNIT / TEAM.  Midfield always prepared for good hard go and a forward line working with better structure and some smart delivery to space by the likes of Duke Tracc Spaz ANB with Frittata slipping unnoticed out the back often enough.  And Clarrie at 70% is so much better than many others at 100% - just wait,

I must add JVR's back up ruck work is very good for one s0 young who is not a "natural ruckman".

Tonight's game is just about one of those famous "eight pointers" !  Going into the bye with 5 in a row and just one loss would be a huge start to the season.

Brisvegas , on the other hand, is facing a disastrous start so they'll be  flat out to recover their season.

Our backs have been pretty slick. Big Joe will find May rather more difficult than some kid from Norf and I can't see Dipwood getting on top of a rejuvenated TMac. As always Charlie ( super player)  will be the danger and a real challenge/experience for McVee.

Max Trac and Viney will win the crucial Mids battle ( Neale's 250th notwithstanding) but what would really seal the deal is a big one from Oliver - it's due.

Kozzie leaves a hole for sure but it has provided an opportunity for the "Kolt" - good luck kid.

Hopefully BBB draws a crowd and allows the others a little more space. Fritta kicks 4 and we win. A couple from Trac sneaking forward would also help cover Kozzie's usual contribution.

Really looking forward to watching Windsor again - this kid is pure class and quickly becoming a favourite. ( I'm also starting to understand  the comparisons with our famous number 2)

That's a bit long winded for me but your poor old Uncle Bitter has been a bit under the weather of late and couldn't sleep! A life time of hedonism may finally be catching up.

Prediction. Dees to win by 9 or a full blow out and a 39 point victory.

Happy days - go Dees!

Back in Amsterdam for this one. Due to all the global daylight savings going-ons, this is the most friendly intercontinental time-slot that I can recall for some time, such that I can order a beer while watching with . . . not exactly pride . . . but less shame. For the local peeps, is Coco's the only go?

First game for me at the G in years so I’m very excited about today. Looking forward to seeing the Kolt and Windsor running around. Huge game, go Dees!

The 2021 vibe lid will be completely blown off if we win it tonight

And I'm very confident we will

Haven't much to add, reckon BBO nailed all the talking points

Hope you pick up soon Uncy and its not to serious ,and yes it does catch up with us all

Huge game. Need to come out breathing fire and put in a 4 quarter effort.

Win tonight and I’ll start to really believe we could go all the way.

Make a statement Dees.

Stil think Salem is well below his best at the moment

Perhaps if Bowey was fit Salem would be dropped

For me that lid will become slightly ajar when we beat Geelong and Carlton in successive weeks

I thought Mini and BBO. Nailed it.

important game. Not one to lose,

JVR work around the ground is so very important.  A work in progress. But getting better each time.

is it going to be wet  pity. Hope it stays dry

definitely an eight point game.  Make a statement Demons !

Salem has lost his drive. Lacks acceleration and kicking penetration.

At 1-5 Lions season is just about done

something in me waters…

I can see them winning

They'll certainly come hard Dub ... but I reckon we've got them covered.

We are winning , but the stats say that we are doing it  little differently. Losing inside 50, easier to score against and less effective at clearances.

Will have to reverse a lot of that against Lions to win. The Lions are offensively strong but are really poor defensively so we will definitely get our looks. Kick accurately, apply pressure around the contest and take advantage of our chances and we will win.

Easy, right?

Dirk?

My nickname for him.

Don't fight it just embrace it.

Nervous for this game, especially with Oliver being a rumoured late out (suspect Laurie will be in the inclusion if this eventuates).

One of the biggest threats for tonight will be Bailey, IMO. He always seems to bob-up against us.

So far this season I've been incredibly impressed and surprised by what I've seen on-field (by far surpassing my expectations at this stage). A win tonight will help instil belief and agree, that it may be a prelude of things to come (dare I say it), à la 2021.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Clarry misses. Taj starts. Laurie the sub. Adjust midfield rotations

It would be wrong to expect a walkover.

We'll do our best.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
