Best case:

In: Frawley, McLean, Newton, Rivers, Robertson

Out: Brown, Dunn, Ferguson (inj.), Miller, Ward

Brown - Not good enough any more. Doesn't hit many targets.

Dunn - I know not many people will be happy, but I think his form has dropped off in the last couple weeks. Still too timid when there is a contested situation. Would only drop him for Newton.

Ferguson - Let Hansen dominate the first few minutes. Injured anyway.

Miller - Takes a good mark on the lead but never goes the right option. If he wants to keep handballing to out of position players let him do it at Sandy.

Ward - Unaccountable. At one stage Bruce took a mark out of bounds, so it was a WCE free kick. While Bruce stood the mark Ward totally ignored Bruce's man who ran to the pocket. Instead Ward ran over to take over from Bruce on the mark. He then pointed out Bruce's man to him. By this stage the WCE player had spotted up the spare man. WCE goal. Ward, you were the closest player, you should have picked up the man. You are not a team player. Everytime you take possession you slow things down and the resulting kick is usually sideways.

Awesome changes

Once again, a Demonland poster comes up with better than anything the MFC selectors could put together

There isn't a single good reason to drop Dunn. He is learning to play the wing, and doing a good job.

If Robbo, McLean and Rivers are fit, they will come in for Miller, Brown and Ferguson who is injured.

Frawley should debut in favour of Ward, or Rivers if he isn't fit.

Newton won't play.

just get rid of miller, cant stand him. never makes the right decision always handballs! cant he kick? include ward and brown and get a new backline coach, kick ins are like jon dorotich in his day, straight to the opposition.

B: WHELAN, CARROLL, HOLLAND

HB: PETTARD, RIVERS, C.JOHNSON

C: JOHNSTONE, MCLEAN, DAVEY

HF: GREEN, BATE, SYLVIA

F: ROBERTSON, NEITZ, NEWTON

FOLL: WHITE, BRUCE, MCDONALD

IC: YZE, GODFREY, WHEATLEY, P.JOHNSON

EMERG: JONES, BELL, BIZZELL

Holland can play on Brown or Petrie.

Please stop playing Ward and Brown they are way past there used by date.

I don't think that there is a worse player in the AFL than Miller never play him again [censored] him off to Brisbane. Sherman can't get a game he's from Victoria. We should make a swap there.

I really hope that Bell makes it as a footballer but the more I see him the more unlikely it seems. Makes too many mistakes and a total lack of vision.

Dunn and Jones need time at Sandy to get some confidence and game time.

Hopefully they will play McLean and Robertson in the seniors. What a joke it was to see Robertson at Sandy ? You would have thought we were flying on top of the ladder by not playing Robbo. We haven't been able to kick goals all year and not to play him against a side he has a good record against when they continue to persist with the likes of Miller is beyond belief. Newton should be considered as well we are not kicking goals and he is kicking goals at Sandy. If he doesn't get a kick put him straight back in the Sandy team. Nobody who has kicked as many goals for Sandy as Newton has should be left out of the team when we are .1% from the bottom.

IN: NEWTON, ROBERTSON, BUCKLEY, RIVERS

OUT: MILLER, FERGUSON, WARD, BROWN

Our season is over and ND knows it. It is time to start playing the younsters, let them gain experience at afl level just like port did last year.

Newton has shown great form over the last few weeks at sandy, and deserves his spot over Miller who has been useless

Robbo is an easy in, he adds so much to our structure and will straighten us up

Rivers is also an easy in, he is our best defender

Buckley should come into replace ward or brown as we need to blood the youngsters

Ward and Brown are both similar players and their disposal is not up to scratch

Mclean and Frawley should come in, but i still think Brock isn't ready and Frawley needs to find some fitness and should be considered in 2 weeks

People are, quite clearly, losing the plot.

I've read that we should drop Dunn and Jones, and yet everyone is screaming at Daniher to play the youngsters.

I've read that Neita should be dropped so that Newton can get a game.

Now Bruce and Green? How will we get their trade value up if we don't play them in the senior Y_M?

Everyone needs a strong drink and a lie-down I think.

All these changes, changes, changes ...

Dunn out, Miller down back, trade Bruce, etc ...

Fact is, we don't know who can and can't play any more.

The team's confidence is shot. They've bulked down and are confused about the game plan. How can any player be expected to show what he's got without clear and strong vision from the football department?

It's every man for himself and they're suffering for it.

This will continue until a new coach emerges like a beacon on a dark night.

Agreed.......plus everyone saying bring in Frawley like he is some great white hope!

If he comes in and has a shocker, the same people would want him out the next week!

Or perhaps because they think Warnock's had a few runs and hasn't done much. Ferguson played last week and broke his thumb.

On the flip side, Frawley was looking like a starter come round one, but was injured before the season commenced.

Ward has been one of our better players all year. Take him out and we have absolutely no run from our defence.. If Ward was to go then Green would have to be played as a permanent back flanker who floats across the backline and runs and carries because Green is no good in the midfield. Should be played in a Goddard type roll and i guarantee this would rejuvenate his career.

Are you for real???? Nathan Jones is one of the few MFC players who is able to hold his head high this year - he gives his all everytime he pulls on the red and blue jumper. Remember he is 19 and was injured earlier in the year. Get serious mate - others should go before you start pointing the sword at Jonesy.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
