Was this done via public complaining? No

We asked for it privately for 20 years and my understanding is that we finally got it, but were screwed in other ways such as being one of the unlucky ones to play an SA team in gather round, and travel to Perth twice.

Have a look at Carlton’s fixture and tell me the AFL isn’t frothing at giving them a flag this year.

That's pretty much how it went down.

HQ will be mighty [censored] if we knock off both of their S.A. babies in consecutive weeks.  Bloody hope so.

Also reckon they are probably 'all-in' on the Baggers, GWS or any other interstater for the flag.

Geelong also have a 5 day break and they have to travel, and played in ridiculous weather with a delay. We are not that hard done by.

Agreed. I don’t think we have anything to complain about. If anything I think our draw this year is outstanding. 5 day break is a pain in the bum but having both games as away games in the one city eases it.
Also we have an extra days break for the game next week and the lions are away from home on consecutive weeks in different cities.
To top it of when then get a 2 week bye afterwards which I think is probably the best time to have our first bye. Gives us an advantage over all other clubs bar Richmond.

We really should win tonight. Adelaide are in terrible form, while we’ve been in good form. They have a complete no name backline and have rung in 5 changes with no-names going in for no-names going out.

I know some will use a 5-day break excuse, but Adelaide have had a 6 day break and had to fly back from Perth. They just don’t have the cattle to beat us. Unless some flu goes through the club, I just can’t see us losing.

The 5 day break is a furphy . Adelaide had a 6 day break and had to travel back late on the Friday night. We don't have to travel as we are already in Adelaide.

Fitness won't be a problem for us.

It's a bit weird knowing we have been in Adelaide for more consecutive days prior to this game than the team called Adelaide.

If BBB gets up for tonight and next week whilst playing at a good level,  i’d be amazed (and delighted)

Unfortunately he’s not at all interested in footy. Not one of my sons is even slightly interested in footy. I must’ve done something heinous in a previous life, maybe mass murder. They’re hipsters and I’m a loudmouth bogan mum, apparently. 🙄

This morning at 3:30am no one I know was awake so I sent a flurry of excited Go Dees messages to my firstborn who lives in Poland. He responded…

I just walked past four awesome Dees fans, namely Max, Jess, George and Louis Gawn. Pushing the pram and blending in just like any other family out shopping. Any other family where the dad’s a 10-foot beanpole that is.

I hope you gave Max your autograph. 😂

Go Dee’s 🔴🔵

Hunter, Laurie, Spargo, AMW, Woewodin, Fullarton, Tholstrup, Melksham, Tomlinson, McAdam, Adams, Brown, Turner, Sestan all are attempting to break into the side. It's funny when you're winning, even your depth looks fantastic. It was less than a month ago I was bemoaning our thin list. :)

Bookies have us $1.60 when my gut feel is we should be unbackable at $1.10.

This is not going to be a walk over. The only certain win right now is West Coast. We have to come out and start well to take the crowd out of the equation.

My beautiful, bossy, molto talented wife is Polish. When I told the woman at Europa cakes in Carnegie that my wife is Polish, she replied, Polish girls keep you on your toes. I replied, But I'm not a ballerina!

My advice to people is: A; I have double Kneemonia. I was previously married to a Phys ED teacher - hence the roonation of my knees. Never marry a Phys Ed teacher.

B; Never marry a Polish woman unless you are a good housewife. ( My wife, a published Novelist, playwright, Short story writer has just shown me the new novel she has written. She is a Genius.)

We are absolutey the last team that you want to be playing against when your forward line isn't firing because the margin for error is so thin. a smashing is on the cards here.

I wouldn’t say there’s that much depth there really.

Still really irks me with the whole Hunter/ Jordan thing, Hunters got the old man calf injury & Jordon is flourishing at Sydney

$1.17 I’d have us at. I don’t understand why we’re anywhere near $1.54

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
