Gonna be an ugly game. We are still 6-7 weeks away I reckon from looking like even remotely decent imo. If I'm a betting man, Doggies at $2.65 is ridiculous good odds here.

And Laurie is luckier than a shizzenhuisen carters top hat in an arctic blizzard!

Hore and Pickett named on the field, so my take is:

Pickett for Spargo

Hore for Bowey

TMac for Tomlinson

Fullarton/Brown for Schache

Leaves the bench as Salem and Laurie (with TMac and Fullarton/Brown). And Billings as sub. And Woewodin, Tholstrup and Brown/Fullarton as emergencies.

You can raffle the last bench and sub spots between any of Laurie, Billings, Woewodin, and Tholstrup.

But I can't see us making 6 changes, so reckon Laurie, Billings it is.

Almost certain there was one hanging over him the entire match last week.

Laurie has a stinker.  Laurie stays in.

Tomlinson did everything right. Composed. Beat his opponent.  Tomlinson is dropped.

Like about 69,999 other MFC members … I’m very confused.

In what sense?

Injured or lost interest?

Is there a scenario where they bring in Brown and Fullarton? Fullarton to play Ruck to give Gawn a rest and to ensure we have two tall forwards at all times? Or is that too tall?

So for me, that would be Pickett, Hore, Brown, and Fullarton in for Bowey, Tomlinson, Schache and Laurie. If Lobb, Naughton, and JUH are proving too tall we could look to play Max behind the ball more and use Fullarton in the ruck forward of centre.

Possible. I can't see it because e haven't tended to make those kind of opposition specific changes, but I could see how it would be intended to work.

I thought Tommo was one of our better players.

Easy top nine.

What gives?

AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE IN PLAYER MANAGEMENT GOODWIN🤯😵‍💫

Agree I thought Tommo was one of our only winners last week - very strange

Pickett you owe us

Tomlinson dropped.  I thought he did better than lever

He absolutely did - Lever would need to have a good game

And another game gifted to Laurie.

Tomlinson stiff to be dropped if it was only about form. The problem  is the match up on any of their 3 talls looks highly concerning.

He not quick enough, non nimble enough for Naughton or Ugle Hagen and Lobb would get him on the lead as well as giving him trouble up the ground and in the air.

100 percent with you on this.

It's a poor signal.

Woe will emerge as the surprise packet this season IF he's given a decent chance to find his feet.

Has some serious AFL worthy talent.

Just needs to bring the work rate now.  If he can bring it he'll usurp the likes of Spargo, the two Bills & Chin.

Tommo must have ran over Goody's dog. He was far from our worst last week

Except Tommo played well and Tmac' s last two he couldn't get near the ball.

Really feel sorry for Tommo.

Not the first time he's been dropped after a good game either.

Not necessarily.  He's one of the possibilities for the bench but the final 23 is yet to be confirmed.

I don't think he deserves to hold his spot BTW.

Tomlinson is vanilla, TMac isn’t even a flavour, he’s finished, as is Brown, I can’t believe we’re still scraping that barrel, personally I find it embarrassing for the club. Dogs by 6 goals

i'll go the opposite route - i don't think tomlinson should be in our best side and i have more faith in plugger mac as a defender than i do tomlinson

I have about as much faith in plugger Mac as a seagul saying no to a chip because its lent!

Tom McDonald is hanging on by a thread … his body cannot sustain another year.

Tomlinson kept Lobb to 2 marks and 0 goals in the corresponding game last year so ofcourse we go ahead and drop him for this one.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
