NON-MFC: Opening Round

Recommended Posts

This will be one of the great chokes in a Season if Vegas lose this. I am actually shocked after watching the first 40 minutes. They absolutely had Carlton on the ropes, playing fast aggressive footy

Weren’t we into Acres at one point? Solid winger can take a great mark.

Probably, but never realistically in the picture for whatever reason. That trade was baffling and has to be draft tampering. Carlton gave up a future third round pick for Acres, who had just been Freos best player in the finals before exit. He's a good footballer and has toweled us up a few times now.

Just goes to show preseason matches are completely and utterly irrelevant. We belted Carlton last week. They come out next week in the real stuff and best Brisbane up at the gabba. We come out and roll over to the Swans.

And we smashed this mob last week.

They were obviously resting during it.

Maybe we should have as well.

I guess they realised nothing’s won in February.

The Blues have had a ripping summer by all accounts.

Makes me sick seeing Carlton leapfrog past us this past year. The only difference between us is they play fast aggressive football with ball in hand and can hit leading forward targets.

That was a really good game of footy, and as much as I hate to say it, a great win from the Blues.

Dees take note - foot skills create wins.

Bears' massive choke - Normanic proportions.

Were the Bears cocky or the Blues inspired?

What do you mean the only difference?

They have a midfield that is as good as ours if not better (with Walsh to come back), a forward line with a generational FF, a powerful CHF and proper small forwards, and a defence which has Weitering to come back.

They have forward half talent we’d kill for and they maximise that talent.

I love the movement and presentation of olayera from both sides. We look really stagnant in front of the ball apart from a few passages.

It’s going to be one of those wacky years folks.
Everyone thought Carlton was dead after a quarter and a half of footy.

Loooooong way to go

Kiddy Coleman was a huge out for Brissy. They didn’t have anyone in the backline with a cool head to quieten the game down. He is also one of the best field kicks. Unironically made a big difference losing him.

Lyon saying the conditions were humid and tough to play in? If that’s true then we have no excuse for how we played. Both teams looked like they were in completely dry weather tonight.

WTF

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
