NON-MFC: Opening Round

Featured Replies

10 years and the only key forward who we produced was Hogan, sure we won flag with hybrids but are we missing a Curnow or a McKay

Shows what happens when sides kick to open players with some skill.  We should learn (have learnings) by watching these two teams play a game that is so unlike our own….

In Carlton’s last 5 games they haven’t kicked double figures in behinds.

In our last 4 games we’ve kicked nothing but double figures in behinds.

One club takes their opportunities and the other doesn’t.

I don't give a stuff about these other games right now.

Enjoy the weekend peeps, some great weather ahead.

Makes us so hard to watch and support and very emotionally draining (well, for me at least).

3x 39 in a row is great weather?

no thank you!

And for me too.

Aside from a couple of entertaining wins over Brisbane, Adelaide and Richmond in July when we kicked straight, we’ve been playing an unattractive, sloppy and often soul destroying brand of footy since about round 10 last year.

….and a brand that all other serious contenders have worked out and nullify.  Oh boy, this could be a long season.

And we smashed this mob last week.

They were obviously resting during it.

Maybe we should have as well.

I don't know how sensible it was going that hard at Princes Park on a very hot night knowing an away trip to Sydney was up next.

Good to see a Victorian team handle the warm conditions up north, and not use it an as excuse. Especially given that the blues were seriously undermanned.

Does not bode well for us this year. We had a stronger list against the swans and spent the night dropping the footy all over the place and wasting chances, doing the same [censored] we did last year and the year before. Lots of our guys went, or stayed missing.

Kind of sobering tbh

Pity, good kid.

A round that starts with a Melbourne loss and a Carlton win is a glum one indeed.

Makes me sick seeing Carlton leapfrog past us this past year. The only difference between us is they play fast aggressive football with ball in hand and can hit leading forward targets.

Wrong, they have Curnow and Mc Kay! We have ??¿ ah we have!!!! Um

Our list is SO OVERATED!

Brisbane badly missed the run of Coleman and McKenna off half back. However that’s an indictment on them given Carlton’s long list of outs. How they won without Weitering and Walsh is amazing?

This Carlton team has a serious hunger about it that can definitely take them to the promise land this year.

Lions will be in the gun this week.

Coughing up a lead in that manner, at home, to an injury depleted team was a choke of epic proportions.

How does even a non MFC thread end up as peak MFCSS? Is there nowhere to go where it doesn't take over?

Easy, Carltank soaked up the pressure and won magnificently, we soaked and drowned.... AGAIN!😱

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
