Well having Milkshake & Marty Hore available will definitely make Casey that much stronger and hopefully Will Verrall, Jake Bowey and Harrison Petty will be OK, not sure about Christian Salem or Benny Brown.

The good news and the bad news. The injury list is narrowing and hopefully, a number will pass their tests. The bad news is that a couple of them aren’t likely to pass their tests.

Injury List: Round 17

Marty Hore — calf / available
Jake Melksham  — knee / available
Jake Bowey — general soreness / test
Ben Brown — knee / test
Harrison Petty — hamstring / test
Will Verrall — concussion / test
Christian Salem — knee / test
Charlie Spargo — Achilles / TBC
Christian Petracca — spleen / indefinite

Petty hamstring?  I thought he hurt his ankle?

Maybe Harrison is hamstrung by his ankle?

And WTF is general soreness Bowey?  Presumably hiding something. 🙄

Bowey was a late withdrawal with a corky in his back. I'd say his soreness has something to do with that

Can anyone confirm if Charlie Spargo is actually alive?

Has he been spotted in rehab groups at training?

Probably just walking home when he went past Darcy Moore?

Good to get more players back and competing for spots.

Melksham back is great news.  He knows how to kick a goal and accurately too !!! 👏👏👏

Injury List: Round 18

Ben Brown — knee / test
Harrison Petty — hamstring / test
Max Gawn — ankle / 2 - 3 weeks
Charlie Spargo — Achilles / TBC
Christian Petracca — ribs, spleen, appendix / indefinite

Just 3 injuries.

pity 2 of them are our two best players

Why is Trac “indefinite” and not “season”?

The injury isn’t a season ending injury and he would be a potential in the unlikely event that we made the prelim or GF..

I would cut out my own spleen if Trac played again this year. It won’t happen even if we make the Grand Final.

I imagine they are not sure of when he will be back playing based on the injury

Two of our best players are out, with the next 3 weeks being a massive challenge.

They probably allow for the possibility that he'll do something stupid like trying to play with broken ribs and a dodgy spleen, much like Max wants to play before his leg heals properly.

Maybe we can rise to that challenge.

It’s being reported that Charlie Spargo requires an Achilles operation and is out for the season.

Hoping for a successful surgery and rehab and looking forward to seeing him out there in the preseason.

I wonder why it’s taken this long (ie 3/4 of a season) for surgery to be actioned? And it won’t be a quick recovery I’ll bet. Poor guy.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
