Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No Thanks, if we're to have a different coach next year, I'd rather it be one of the new breed. Like his seeming heir Mr Daniher, Sheeds said nothing to suggest he'd be coaching the Dons next year, he almost all but confirmed he wont be there from his answer to questions...

how predictable that reactions be like this..lol

but on one note.. the hypothetical is ..one coach with no premierships and no real nouse as to how to get one.. for one with 4 ..and an almost chameleon like ability to reinvent ??..who has history of playing and developing youth etc.

I'd be in it

I would be in it too.

Getting Sheedy would be better than any player for this club. He mentioned last night he would probably coach next year regardless, so it can happen.

my gut feel is some quality players and coaches see Melbourne as a bit soft and unreliable as a club, something one person cannot change too quickly. Apart from Pickett, who have we traded to the club of real note?

i wish he would come. I have no doubt he would toughen the place up, and change the structure of our side.

But in reality he is blue collar, would suit the tiges but Wallace is there for 2 more years or perhpas interstate sides like Freo. One thing is for sure he won't end up at Carlton.

wonder what ASH would make of this?? lol

a complete no as coach... but in a director of football type role i'd take him in a second... similar job to people like david parkin at hawthorn... would be invaluable to the club...

however i think getting a new coach is a must... look at the most recent senior coaches to make their debut...

Chris Connolly

Dean Laidley

Alastair Clarkson

Ross Lyon

Neil Craig

Paul Roos

John Worsfold

out of that list only the first 2 I would consider not to be successful thus far, with lyon too early to call... but worsfold, roos, craig and clarkson have all done terriffic jobs... and i believe the next debut coach will also do a good job... will be quite annoyed if we pick up a recycled coach, as they've clearly failed... the only way i would want a current coach is if we poached someone like carlton did with pagan (although i would expect a better outcome)...

If Sheeds wanted an overseeing role only...he has bigger fish to play with...called the AFL.. they have his chair already organised and preheated !! lol

Sheedy might not have a say in what happens, but I get the feeling he is pretty excited with the batch of young players we have at the moment. I for one, would like to see what he can do with them in the next couple of years. So that would be a no from me, but as I said, it's not up to me or Sheeds.

If Essendon do decide to change coaches, Sheedy would be a great acquisition for any club, especially a club like Melbourne. Surely a bit of Sheedy hype would boost your membership over 30,000.

yeah ..i got the impression Sheeds was keen to see the new batch come through after all he has had much sucess with this sort of scenario.

Im not sure how Kev would bolster membership...unless you talk of defections ?? lol..

I think Kev would shudder at our facilities :-(. In reality I see it either as a continuation at windy Hill.. or a new office at Headquarters.

i have some insider news!!!!!!!!!!!!

LISTEN UP!

there will be a 4 way trade up coaches next year.

Sheedy of essendon will be coaching the Tigers next season (he is in their team of the century B.P and is a favourite son)

Daniher of Melbourne to Essendon (He is Essendon's favourite son)

Terry Wallace of Richmond to Carlton (The team he really wanted to coach but lost out to Pagan a few years back)

D.Pagan of Carlton to Melbourne (Melbourne is desperate need of a quality coach who can turn their extremely talented side into premiership success)

It is a win-win for every body and is almost certain to eventuate.

i'm happy with Pagan. Some argue that he is a coach more suited to a different era of football, but i think he can still coach in modern football.

If this does not eventuate:

Out next best options are

- Longmire

- any other sydney assistent coach

- G.Odonnel

- M.Voss

i have some insider news!!!!!!!!!!!!

You and I clearly have very different inside sources.

Just on the topic, I was listening to SEN on my way home tonight, and Ox made the comment that Gary Lyon was the best forward coach he has ever had, that he could really get through to players and that in his opinion he'd make a great coach.

Now before anyone jumps on me, I am NOT in favour of Lyon being our next coach, but if he wants to be our forward coach, I'm all for it. However, as Ox said, why would he take the pay-cut, only to gain the extra headache?

Sheedy wouldn't do it because he wouldn't coach a club that has limited resources like we do, I don't think he is confident enough in his own ability to achieve without a rich club behind him.

might be just the challenge for such an 'insecure' person !! :-))...see if he really has it or if all those premeierships were just @rse and circumstance.

he has nothing to prove

He has more to lose by taking a chance with a poor club, which is the reason why I rate guys like Matthews higher, they were prepared to go to an unsuccessful club and putting everything on the line.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
