Will be there with bells on.  Well, not bells, but Dee paraphernalia. 😈

And I hope the Geelong "designated fan bays" are not where I usually sit......will not be happy.......... 😠

Come sit near us!

Not sure about these designated bays, last week the North cheer squad was told where to sit (in our old spot. Sucks to be them 😁). I can’t imagine Geelong’s been told they can reserve bays.

We will learn a bit about the group today, hoping there are not too many scars from last week. Glad to see Westy back and Purcell starting in the middle. Hoping to see plenty of overlap run and switch kicks to get our running game going. Also really want us to hold our shape a bit more. For me our forwards have been pushing too high up the ground and wingers drifting to the wrong side of the ground. Let’s get back to playing our roles, let the bulls win the ball on the inside and get the ball on the outside and spread. Forwards have got to play in front this week and make any loose players in our forward line accountable. We can’t afford to go into our shells for this game, be brave and take the game on. Think we will have too much firepower for Geelong, as much as today is about getting the win we need to send a message to the rest of the competition but also reinforce to ourselves that we are good enough and can go back to back if we play our brand of football.

I just hope our last two matches don’t put people off coming today. That wasn’t us. Something that wasn’t in their control befell half the side. That’s now in the rear-view  mirror and all eyes are firmly fixed, looking through the windscreen to a prelim.

It’s not too late to purchase a ticket: $10 is more than reasonable and you can byo food and drink. It’s a beautiful day for footy: sunny and no rain predicted, top of 25 degrees. And bring your kidlets! Ideal conditions and time-slot for them. And under-18s get free entry. If you don’t have any kids, bring someone else’s! But be sure to ask permission first. 😁

Geelong fans show up to their W matches in relatively big numbers. It would be sad if they outnumber us at our own home game.

GO THE MIGHTY DEES

GIVE ‘EM HELL!!!

Jumping on a long haul flight back to Melbourne so won’t see the game. Best of luck to the girls. I reckon we’ll show our true colours and win well.

go dees

should be an easy win once we get our competitiveness back

Harris needs to show something or i’d drop her.

I’m seeing waaaay too many Geelong supporters here. I hope that just means our fans have yet to arrive

Very wobbly early. Come on Demons

Every part of the ground - outnumbered. Sort it out Mick.

Maddy Gay is having an absolute Birch of a game. As is Birch.

This backline has fallen apart

Umps ****house too.

How do you fail to put someone in the ruck at a defensive stoppage 20m out?

Hollywood kicks out when we have the best ruck in the game.

#StinearOut

Simple kick out and simple direct footy leads to a shot at goal

We can’t play any worse, only way is up from here.

Players and the coach need a rocket.

Ironic quarter time song “ I fell in love with a hopeless case”

wow this team has lost the fun. Why can’t they spread the field wider with some shorter kicks and more running, and to the city side of the ground please!

not as bad as last week. At least a few of the handballs have connected. Bombing to non existent forwards is not great but I suspect that our forwards are playing too far out.

Could have been worse but not promising

Amazing how similar that quarter looked to how the men were playing at the end of the season, no run, bombing it out of defense to 1 on 3 contests, no confidence. Really needed that one on the siren but alas no to be.

Hope they can turn this around quick or it will be straight sets again for the Dees.

How is our kicking out of defence?

Midfield are a complete joke

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
