Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

IN's and OUT's Next week?

I think we'll have awesome IN's this week, but oh dear look who we're playing...

IN: McLean, Whelean, Rivers, Petterd

OUT: Warnock (Not good enough), Holland ( No match up, could be in trouble at the tribunal anyway), Ward (No explanation needed), Dunn (Harsh I know, but looking at the team I don't know who else you could drop)

I don't think Pickett will get a run after not playing this week, I think they'll want him to run into fitness. Seriously have a look at the team sheet today, who else would you drop?

No way is Dunn getting dropped. Our season is over, what is the point of dropping kids who are making their way in the seniors?

Don't forget, Subiaco is a big ground, so Dunn will have a lot of space to work in, which will suit him.

McLean and Whelan won't play.

In: Rivers, CJ

Out: Holland, Moloney (purely because I think he is really struggling with the OP now, and after running on the hard surface at TD, running around on a big ground like Subiaco is a huge ask).

If Petterd is ok, bring him in and take one of Ward or Brown out.

Miller and Brown have more of a chance of being dropped than Dunn. Neitz was extremely underdone today. Won't surprise me if he doesnt pull up.

I heard no mention of Melbourne players coming back in Peter Bruckners injury wrap tonight so I am a bit unclear on who is coming back?

Think I will wait for a few days before putting up nay thoughts.

Yeah personally I'd drop one of the above, but I don't think it's danners style to drop Miller, he may drop Doggie though.

Agree, Warnock would struggle to make the Box Hill Hawks. Another case of poor list management like 426 over the years. Make a call early when the signs are there, accept the risk of failure. Then move on.

Dunn you'd keep. It's season over for us, the more game time the better for the newbies.

Add Frawley, Petterd, Garland, Newton and anyone else I've forgotten to the mix.

We'll never win a flag with our current 22.

Please explain?

Well, generally, when a player is not going to play, it means we won't be seeing him on the ground kicking the ball. ;)

They said McLean is at least a couple of weeks away, and considering Whelan's soft-tissue history, he won't be risked either.

yeah, it's a tough one.

i prefer to say throw them in to face the eagles, these are the same guys who would claim to be going until the season is 'mathematically over' yet will hold wheels and mclean off untill they are more than 100% fit, something they would not do if we were 3-4.

now i realise we need them to be fully fit, but surely if none of them play it is an admittance that we have given it in

daniher said in an interview on the tv that mclean was atleast 2 weeks away (last week)

Who's to know? Last week McLean himself said he'd play this week but now it's "let's take it a fortnight at a time". Given the game's at Subi I'd say he's unlikely. I'd be inclined to think Neale would see it as simply as, In: Rivers Out: Warnock.

Why risk aggravating a players injury by bringing them back too early, the season is gone. Even with our full strength team we would cop a flogging from a rebounding West Coast. I suspect the team will suffer a bit of a letdown this week. They have worked so hard the last 2 weeks for zip. You would not blame them if intensity dropped this week. Don't drop Dunn, he had a great game last week. Miller is disappointing ++, he works hard to get the ball but then undoes his work with stupid decision making. Warnock and Holland and Ward have to go.

PJ is one really bright spot, I thought he had a great game

.....

How is Warnock a case in poor list management? He is no great AFL footballer but hell there are bigger issues than him on our list.

How was 426 poor list management? He was injured and ill for most of his early years and deserved a year to make it happen. He did not and got cut. There is more an issues in drafting him than retaining him? So whats the issue?

Now is the time to look for the future and it's sad but players like Brown, Ward, Holland and Bizzell aren't our future. It's time to give some of the younger guys who are borderline selection more of a go like CJ and Warnock, and much to the frustration of some here I'd play Newton and Buckley as well. Give them a taste of the big time so we can see where they're really at.

Out: Brown, Ward, Holland

In: Newton, C.Johnson, Buckley

Obviously injuries may impact this.

If Mclean is right I'd rather give him a half at Sandy than send him to Subiaco, that ground can flattern you for weeks if your not fully fit, and even if Brock's foot is OK he wouldn't of been able to run or kick for the past 6 weeks. I can't see many changes this week we don't need both Warnock and Holland playing replace them with a running player more likely CJ or Buckley or Petterd if fit.. If Rivers declares himself fit I still woul give him another week off. If Holland is clear to play he should be played on Lynch, run Bell with Hanson and Carroll to pick up the other tall. Petterd or CJ to run with David Wirrupunda. Moloney does look in need for a week off give him this week.

Our forward structure is still a little concerning, subi should suit Miller the ground is made for a lead up CHF

Petterd/CJ Holland Carroll

Ward Bell Bruce

Bate Johnstone Green

Sylvia Miller Davey

Yze Neitz White

PJ Godfrey McDonald

Dunn Brown Jones Newton

Godfrey gets Judd, McDonald to Kerr.

I thought PJ was our most effective tap ruckman yesterday, lets start him in the centre bounce then push him forward and White to do the around the ground work. Try it if it doesn't work then bring Newton on in the forward pocket.

I can't see many changes this week

I don't see there will be either, its not really Danihers style, especially given the fact that we have come so close in the last two.

McLean, I can't see going to Perth (unfortunately) immediately after coming back from a seven week injury.

Pettard (if fit), CJ (only because I want to see the kid get a run and a chance) and Rivers (if fit).

Who they are for? Well, I haven't thought that far ahead ;) !!!

This week is not the week to play kids. Playing Buckley, Frawley and Garland against the Eagles is suicidial.

I think the only change will be (hopefully) Rivers for Holland. The rest of the team deserves another go. Especially Miller.

B: Bell, Carroll, Warnock

HB: Brown, Rivers, Ward

C: Johnstone, Bruce, Green

HF: Bate, Neitz, Sylvia

F: Davey, Miller, Yze

FOLL: White, Godfrey, McDonald

I/C: Dunn, P Johnson, Jones, Moloney

Our forward structure is of biggest concern. I'd start Neitz at CHF. He has been starved of oppurtunities the last couple weeks. If he leads up the ground we suddenly have a good target from the half back line. Playing Neitz at CHF means we get Glass away from the last line of defence. Some posters think he is not fit, but I think he is just out of form. Besides after two frustrating weeks for him he must be fired up.

I'd start Miller at FF. He is very good on the lead but his decision making is as good as a kid playing his first game in the under 9's. I figure if he starts his leads deep, when he actually does take a mark, it should be obvious (even to him) that the only option is to have a shot on goal.

Bate to continue to do his thing on the half forward line. I'd start Sylvia deep, next to Miller. He should have gained some confidence from last week. I see a big game coming up from him.

Davey and Yze are the X factors. Both are in good form. I'd name them in the pockets but both can play like on ballers that drop forward. It has worked a treat the last few weeks. Being such dangerous players there opponents have no choice but to follow them. Those two pushing up leaves plenty of room in our forward line for Miller, Neitz and Sylvia. Room in our forward line is something we can't buy at the moment, but it is essential if we are gonna be any chance.

IN: Petterd (if he pulls up, can really learn from the experience of going out West), Rivers (picks himself), C.Johnson (because he needs time this year to show if he can make it).

OUT: Moloney (really struggling with his running at the moment. Needs a rest i think), Holland (no obvious match-up), Brown/Ward (one of either to make way for CJ).

Cant really see any more changes than that. The CJ for Brown/Ward change probably wont happen either.

McLean and Wheels wont go to Perth after long layoffs. Danners will probably want to debut Newton and Buckley in Melbourne (and also not throw them into the fire of Subiaco).

I agree. When Neitz isn't firing Daniher needs to try alternatives and PJ would have been a good option up forward just to mix things up and try and unsettle the opposition.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
