Let me guess Ch7 will have BT, Luke Darcy and Luke Hodge on commentating tonight.

They’ll be barracking for Carlton…

Where does this BT hate come from? I re-watched the Collingwood second half and he was fanning our embers from early in Q3 - even though the Filth out-scored us in Q3. He was saying "4 goals, it's stlll very do-able". I don't get this argument that he's anti-Dee. I do get the argument that the AFL (and the Tribunal) are pro-Filth, though. Same as they are pro-Swans. (Like Keating says, never bet against self-interest.)

Fellow Minions and beloved d'landers attending the game tonight ... yes that's you....

Please ask yourself, are we just supporters or  can we add to this match as barrackers, just as we did on QB against the filth!

....I EMPLORE EVERY ONE OF YOU....TO STAND TOGETHER AS ONE MIGHTY DEMON ARMY TONIGHT.

I KNOW MANY ON HERE ARE ALREADY GREAT BARRACKERS AND NEED NO ENCOURAGEMENT

BUT LET'S LIFT THE ROOF OFF.

AS GREAT AS THEY ARE (and i'm one of them) DON'T LEAVE TOO MUCH OF THE HEAVY LIFTING TO THE OFFICIAL D.A.

BE EXTRA LOUD TONIGHT NO MATTER WHERE YOU'RE SITTING (EVEN THE MCC) RIGHT FROM THE OPENING BOUNCE!!!!

LET'S GIVE THE BOYS A HUGE LIFT AS THE 19TH MAN AND BRING EM HOME

NO QUARTER TILL THE FINAL SIREN!

CARN THE MIGHTY DEMONS!

Say it clear

Say it loud

I'm a Demons supporter

And I'm fu..ING proud.

Sorting my timber stack, very similar to moving deck chairs on the titanic. Put timber there……back to here next month…….and so it goes. We shouldn’t have had to play tonight.

Turn the volume down on the TV and listen to the SEN Demons focused call. They have the regular one, the blues one and the Dees one to choose from

Nah, got lumbered training a new kid at work today. Is it just this kid, or are all 19yos slow and lazy these days?

Was he a high draft pick?

MFC 2021 Premiers Members pin fell off my jacket at the tram stop. Found the pin before the tram arrived. Feel like it’s an omen!

Our form was once lost but it can be found again…

Getting a bit more nervous now. We lost to the team that finished 1st by 7 pts. Blues almost lost to the team that finished 8th. Surely we cover the Blues tonight?

Lovely day today. Looking forward to the g tonight. Hopefully it’s a better result and less vile crowd than last week.

Dees by 14 points.

Absolute opposite. The freeway into Melbourne is closed so will need to take a massive detour, going to be fun…

Who’s the likely sub tonight? Laurie really struggled with the intensity of the game last week, so it feels like we need someone with more experience or competitiveness.

20 point win. Beating the media narrative and Gil's wishes.

I’ve done way more work today than I did last Thursday in the lead up to the game. I call that a win.

I reckon Hibberd fits that bill for tonight's sub.

Laurie not up to it.

Not since 2011 has a ruckman been a sub so it won't be Grundy.

I doubt it will be Schache. He could have been an option to relive Gawn throughout the game and then be subbed out at 3 qtr time, but not to be.

I'll grant that the paper baggers' supporters have a marginally higher level of personal hygiene and a lower level of incestuous relationships than  filth supporters and ..... probably more teeth.

Our banner isn’t at all concerned with the opposition. We’re using our space wisely, including a shoutout to Gussy and Hibbo. Oh, and THE MOST amazing graphic thus far. A montage of players: Kozzie and my absolute favourite inclusion… three of the “lesser lights” in Nibs, Smithy and Spaz. Not a Maxy, Tracc or Clarrie in sight. 😁

Great..that sounds cool as..especially Nibbler...and name checking Hibbert!!( go figure that one????)

I was only responding to the  "Voss...loss" post/ comment

Umpire News:

The umpires for this evening are,

21 Simon Meredith

22 Nathan Williamson

27 Andre Gianfagna

32 Jacob Mollison

These umpires did not officiate in either of the Melbourne v Carlton games in 2023

Three of them (21, 22, 27) officiated in our round 24 match against Sydney. The free kick tally in that game was Demons 18, Sydney 10.

Carlton have had Meredith 4 times in 2023, Williamson 4 times, Mollison 4 times and Gianfagna once.

We have had Meredith 3 times, Williamson 5 times, Mollison 3 times and Gianfagna 5 times.

Only bad omen I can see is that we had Meredith and Williamson against Essendon, but still managed to get 23 frees to 19.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
