Hopefully we will see

1- forward line strategy being worked on asap (including no one trying to kick goals from 50 metres out)

2- Trac and Viney and sparrow and Clarry and Hunter and Salem all learning how to hit a pass on a forward entry and not a Hail Mary aerial bomb into a 12 player pack !!!

3- players using the corridor and then turning and moving the ball on ; not slow and wide to Hunter and Langdon as safe slow nowhere options that lets defensive unit setup

4- Kozzzy crumbing a pack from front or behind and not on side

5- Grundy taking contested marks. (Need him this week. )

6- goalkicking practice (in real action contests) and goalkicking confidence (including Trac needing daily sessions so he doesn’t handball off within 15 metre of goal)

Hopefully we don’t see or hear

1- any more injuries

2- Goody talking about learnings again and again

3 - excuses … we have so much talent and underperforming in ‘22 and potentially ‘23

It’ll be the sole reason we don’t win another flag.

Forward connection and turnover transition is what they need to work on preseason drill after drill after drill. No more excuses.

Lions are ordinary bar a few decent players but they play their system and use their advantages so well.

So you are saying that 2 sessions are enough to top up on thd skills ,systems  and available players they have had 2 seasons to get right and clearly you didn't watch either Brisbane or GWS yesterday.

Anyway perhaps they might try and beat Carlton first.

Geez there's one eyed and there's denial

Anyone going today?

I'll be there.

We left at least 3-4 gettable goals on the table. Get those and this is a non story. Kozzy missed 1, Lingers 1, Fritta 1-2 as well.

As did the Pies in the first quarter

The game could have been all over after 20 minutes

If the players allow Carlton a fast start, say hello to 2024

Press conference with Petracca on the mobile app.
Trac gives a good overview but does say he’s not the best.

Anyone will do give a summary of today's session?

Lots of families out watching the training, which is nice to see.

They were doing some kick pass drills when I arrived but stopped before I noticed anything (or anyone) interesting.

They've split into two groups.  One is running a light defence and forward entry sim (all the usual defenders involved, split in to reds and white bibs).

The smaller group seems to be practising crumbing and kicking for goal (from the right pocket). Grundy and Jordon are in this pocket, with Kyah Farris White also kind of just shadowing.

Sestan is doing resistance training.

Ooops I lied, there's a third group on the other side of the ground from where I am.  Similar forward sim, but too far to see who exactly involved.  They've now consolidated the two forward groups and are debriefing.

The defence team is also debriefing with Chaplin.

Max walking around perimeter and signing things - assume things will wrap soon and the rest of the boys will do the same.

No Clarry.

Daniel turner with the forwards.

Harmes not training likely confirming hammy news from vfl practice match.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
