Going in with one injured ruck against a team with 2 legit rucks is bizarre

Gawn has been declared fit and is a beast who can battle through almost anything

What makes you think he is not match fit? trust media gossip more than the club?

Grundy is not in the right frame of mind Norm to be playing a game of this magnitude.

He's already on the beach.

I’m completely confused

1- Hibbo OUT ???! Omitted. wtf. One of our best last week. I’m confused.

2- No Grundy ??!?!?! Wtf  our ruck is under an injury cloud. he’s probably packed his bags already. Goodys trial failed and he’s on the outer (on a plane bound for Sydney town)

3-???? Spargo IN Wtf. 🤯🤯He’s had a poor year and very average at Casey. Goodys lovechild rises again.

4- Tomlinson?? IN.  Forward or back ??? Maybe he’s the new forward option 🤯🤯

No Petty. No Melksham.  No Brayshaw. No JVR. Weakest team in 2023

my changes.
In. JJ. Grundy.
outs. JVR Brayshaw

Agreed

The non Hibberd section is mind boggling, he played a great game last week & you’d think his retirement could’ve given his teammates a little bit more motivation for a club favourite

Perfect opportunity for Grundy with Max a bit sore & Carltons two rucks

Spargo l can cop, at least he can spot up a target inside 50

And some people want Schahce as the sub

Ive lost all confidence now, it’s been lost at the selection table

I thought Grundy was valued at our club??? Those words will haunt Goodwin & could go down as the biggest flop of a trade & only Melbourne could manufacture this! Can’t help injuries but if Gawn is on one leg who will be out back up ruck???

Our list is incredibly short, especially the forwards. It’s been a real failure of list management that’s never talked about.

not at all.  lower that to 188cm and you'd add a few.  Clarry missed that list by hair

Tall mids have been a priority and we have several talls injured

Spargypants in !!!

Someone send the cardio ambulance around to picket fence's house !!!

Actually I was genuinely concerned about this so I made some discreet enquiries.

Picket has apparently survived the selection shock but the paramedics had to cook two defibrillators and blackout the neighbourhood to keep him gasping.

Don't have to 'look'

I want us to ream the baggers.

Just don't see this as the likely scenario.

Good luck.... but....

Uninspiring ins.. although happy that Thommo gets to play a final for us.

Uninsipiring maybe, but flags arn't won by superstars.

All the ins are quality, solid players, more than capable of playing a role in my mind.

Our depth is certainly being tested, but we're still in the flag race because we have it.

Tommo in is a bit baffling to me.  Could he play fwd and sit on Weitering?

Not strong enough in the air I'd say... Tommo's strength is at ground level and neat disposal.

Our ability to mark inside 50 really concerns me.

I’m sort of hoping that our forward game plan will involve very quick sharp kicking in (breaking the lines, lowering the eyes) , not slow congested long bombs.

If and when it is bombed in (say from a centre clearance) again , speed is the essence.

And…. keep it locked in…. and kick accurately, and….

they had about 3 months playing together

did not work.

And the last thing we need is to bring Grundy in as it takes our best player away from what he does best.  Gawn will get us home tomorrow night

So ... Chaps...Chapettes..  ( anything in between  )....

How do we feel about the looks of the team ?

Take all brouhaha and mock excitement away...   are we booking tix for Brissy... or checking out the Specials Board at Kooroora ??

I'm disappointed as to where we sit.

I fear another wasted year...

Cheers

I will be honest I never really get too caught up in team selection and only just looked at the full team after reading so many people upset with selection. Looking at our team it’s still a bloody strong lineup, yes we have some fragility’s but if we play our best and take our chances we will win.

Don’t worry where all fearing another wasted year. If we lose the anger and disappointment will be at a record Demonland level. This is a massive game.

Blues wont kick a winning score against us. Goody has backed in our defence. Blues to kick 10 goals or less

Jake Lever, Adam Tomlinson, Jake Bowey
Judd McVee, Steven May, Christian Salem (Rivers)

and yes, it won't be pretty to watch

The midfield is a bit of an issue for mine. They beat us in there in Rd 22 when we had Brayshaw in, and they were missing Walsh and cerra. Now they're both back in and we have ...JJ. Ouch.

Overall the team is NQR and I think we all know it. Wish us luck ...

Only via a dubious goal line review.

In a general sense you are correct but on his day JJ is up there.  The question is will he bring it for three quarters or more on the night!  If he can only manage a quarter or two at his best then yes we might be in trouble.

Another big watch for mine is Viney.  His last three finals haven't been his greatest performances vs his usual VG or better H&As.

We need Kozzy to play more mid field & stoppage minutes along with Tracc to play substantial time inside 50.

You'd imagine Hibberd would be sub.

Would be bizarre to completely drop him after his superb shut down job on Jamie Elliot last week.

Has to be , I'd back him anywhere in the ground to make a contest. Even in the forward 50

Tomlinson .... i get it.

JJ and Spargo  omfg     They better play out of their skins tomorrow night. Dont you both dare mupp it.

Hibberd must be unable to play back to back games hence retiring.

Grundy  ??  Maybe sub  incase  someone stomps on Gawns busted toe.

I think Grundy is gone; same as most Dl posters. Shame.

Correct.

Same as LJ.

We were a man down much of the time from about Rnd 12 onwards and even worse when we hit finals.

Goes some way towards explaining how our second half of the year was so shizen.

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
