Please tell me what happens if max gets injured mid game

Spargo in the ruck

Aside from JJ for Gus, the changes are a real head scratcher.

We select Tomlinson with McKay out, and the Blues going small. And we drop a more mobile Hibbo from a backline that conceded only 60 points last week.

And essentially Spargo comes in for JVR. Why have we given Schache another year?

So unless Goody has devised a new gameplan in the past week, I have no confidence in us scoring over 60 points in what will be ideal conditions.

Howe plays for Collingwood now.

I like the changes. fast deck.....Who's the sub?

Any left over drugs ??

The chat about no tall forwards when McDonald in the ruck ignores the fact that Smith, Petracca and Fritsch are not exactly small and all play as marking forwards PLUS can beat their opponents when the ball hits the deck

Their start and method will tell a story early.  If we again let them get a start I will be incensed. If we drop out this week, the club will be hammered and carry an unforgivable legacy with this list.  New coaches to support Goody especially midfield and forwards coaches.

I guess T-Mac? Maybe even Joel will get in there.

Not super confident either though, mosquito fleet better kick some goals when we're down there.

Interesting we have an ex-Demons player (Andre Gianfagna) as one of the umpires.

Goodwin must take responsibility for selection and it does not fill me with much fizz.

I would prefer Lauren Pearce in the ruck before T-Mac

What next week ???

Has Goodwin lost his mind. Tmac can’t jump more than 3cm off the ground. This is 2017 all over again

reckon i’d trust a premiership coach’s logic over a footy forum

Our ability to mark inside 50 really concerns me.

I can’t believe Hibberd is out WTF are they doing, the guy can rest his Achilles once he’s retired, unbelievable & they player a plonker In Tomlinson

Salem & Tmac are ineffectual & Grundy our shining pre season ray of hope can’t even get a look in with a injury hampered Max

This game is lost in selection

A bloody disgrace

Hibbo can’t play multiple games. if his body was fine he would 100% be playing

Spargo in makes sense after last weeks debacle going inside 50...for JVR tho...? Weird one

Perhaps they are going to do what the On The Couch panel suggested and kick in scrubby chaos ground balls all game (in perfect dry weather footballing conditions). This has the hallmarks of a massive stuff up.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
