Bandi, my old mate - what do you think the selection logic is? Serious Question.

Please tell me what happens if max gets injured mid game. Oliver in the ruck?

Does tgis mean maybe Grundy has already checked out?

I thought he'd  get a look in. One tall down on form with one ruck concerns me a little.

Then again it's somthing different.

But Laurie not for me. Wasn't sighted last week

Of course he has checked out.

Collecting his monthly wage whilst he moves to the winner is Sidney.

Carlton have gone small in the forward line as well so if we can just pressure them enough to bomb it in may and lever will have a field day

Small in the emergencies too so their sub will be a small.

My interpretation:

  • Tommo in to play on TDK / allow Lever to not take a big target / rest Hibbo
  • Jordon in to cover Brayshaw midfield minutes / allow Trac to spend more time forward
  • Spargo in for inside 50 delivery and manic pressure - with that many small forwards (Spargo / Kozzie / Chandler /ANB) if you're not running your [censored] off the whole time you get replaced by the one resting on the bench!

My fear is that I think our forward pressure should be great with a smaller / aggressive forward line which means we get the front half turn over game that we apparently crave.  The problem is that if we get the turnovers in the forward half, we kick it back inside 50 before it has emptied out (we know how that goes).  It's far better to get the turnovers up the ground to have a more open 50.

I thought the original response was..... "play him at CHF"  .... inferring that  Peter Hudson is God and remains at FF.  I never saw it in person but a few relatives did.

Well over 50 years ago.

Thanks Deebauched. I'm glad there are people out there with better recall than I can muster at 74yo!

No Grundy is so dumb.

No idea why Hibberd has been dropped, he was excellent last week but assume he will at least be the sub.

Jordon no thanks.

Worse than that Shizzenhuisen that he isnt in. In fact  DEESGRACE

Because last week we wasted Lever as a lockdown for most of the game. Third tall means Lever can actually do what he does best

We did hold Collingwood to just 60 points. (Unfortunately we held ourselves to just 53 points!)

How plays ruck whilst max is resting?

I guess T-Mac? Maybe even Joel will get in there.

Not super confident either though, mosquito fleet better kick some goals when we're down there.

Well, if Hibbo had played his last game he can be immensely proud. His job last week was top notch.

Assume TMac has to give Max a chop out. He has a massive role to play. I hope he is up to it.

Is anyone else frustrated with Van Rooyen and annoyed that's he's out due to stupidity?

I know it's his first year but he has gone some silly things this year and when our forward line is falling down he puts himself out with a silly elbow to the chin which he didn't need to do.

He'd want us to win, let's just say that.

Why do I fear we have lost this at selection table. And so who rucks when Max is resting. McDonald. Oh ffs

Wow I really thought this was an opportunity for Grundy to step up.

Him not in the side says a lot. We either don't rate him or don't consider him a Melbourne person anymore.

Don't expect huge deal for him. Disappointing but will be good to move on for both.

Yep, I've done the full swing in mood. Feeling like if we can take out Carlton we're better than 50/50 for the flag.

That's partly because I think Carlton are actually in the very top level at this stage of their momentum, and partly because if we manage to get our forward issues worked out enough to get past Carlton, then we'll have a plan in place for dealing with the rest.

I tend to agree with this also noting that I think we are more likely to play GWS in GF than Collingwood. I don't think Port are up to it and expect GWS to win comfortably abd reckon GWS defend the corridor so well and will be too strong for Collingwood on transition.

I thought Laurie was incredibly lucky with only 5 average games to be named sub in a QF. In fact I thought it was a bad call. Turned out to be too.

Pretty sure he hasn't justified a recall. If not Grundy then Hibbo.

Say what you want about McDonald (most of it fair now…) but he’s not totally useless when the ball hits the deck. So if he goes in to ruck to rest Gawn, then he’s capable of adding a bit as long as he isn’t completely pantsed in the tap

TMac has been useless for a long time. I would have Grundy every time. More so when Max has an injured toe.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
