‘At odds with the fitness staff’ feels like an orange/red flag (given their fitness staff is Darren Burgess)

Definitely a possible replacement for Jake Melksham. Although I hope we keep Jake Melksham on the long-term injury list.

Shane McAdam definitely has football talent. Great to hear he wants to come to the Demons (if a trade can be done).

It's nice to be a destination club! 😊

His highlights reel is impressive, but that's what highlight reels are for.

I see he wears number 23 at Adelaide.  If he's keen on that number, there's every possibility it may be vacant at Melbourne at the end of this season.

For a third-rounder as suggested?  I'm in.

@Grand New Flag can you please confirm that you’ve been hearing this for a while?

Seriously need to let it go and get over yourself.

Certainly talented & has that x factor. Not sure he is the most team oriented player going - seems a tad hungry but then again maybe that's not a bad thing in a forward.

I like! Excellent mark. Can jump like nobody! Plenty of courage. Good skills. Replacement for Melk and Fritta. Adelaide always seem to screw their players!

McAdam's mooted move to Melbourne also opens up the possibility of a three-club trade between the two SA clubs and ourselves, involving Grundy to Port plus other players and draft picks being involved.

He's 18 months older than Fritta so wouldn't be replacing him other than in the unfortunate case of injury.

Melksham on the other hand ...

Do we need to trade, he is out of contract and want's to leave?  Crows have no bargaining power here

Unless he's a free agent, some sort of trade would need to take place I think.  (cf Luke Jackson)

Alternatively, he could nominate for the draft but then he would have no say where he ends up.

yeh, im not sure he is wanted like Jackson.  Let him walk like Marting did to Carlt back in 2019.  I just really don't like this, he isn't close to our best side.  And the way he is leaving Adel if true, is messy

If Fritta gets injured again then he's a replacement...

Struck me as a slightly better version of Hannan but that's on limited watching.

Not sure at this stage. Could be a good calculated risk but dunno.

Really great sign, on the back of koz resigning, an Aboriginal player wants to come to the dees.

Suggests they have really got the cultural safety stuff right.

Compare and contrast to the crows.

Their most popular player, tex, gets suspended for racist comments about an Aboriginal player and then there is the whole camp nightmare and a loved figure like Eddie betts leaving the club because it the cl7b is not cultural safe.

Exactly what I was thinking….

That's what I said.

Again, he would have no control over which club chooses to draft him.  Risky business.

Yes, but that's not the actual case.  A 28 year old 50 game player that has burnt his old team.  Not many lining up for him i wouldn't think.  just hope dees play hard ball and give up nothing for him. he isn't worth anything

I'm far from excited but I guess with both Dunstan and Melksham doing ACLs 😭 there might be a need for the extra mature mid-sized body around. Rarely goes goalless.

It is always hit and miss with the top-up type players;

Dunstan, Grundy, Hunter, Tomlinson, Brown, and Langdon being our recent run, which you'd have to say has given us a great overall result for very little trade cost.

A side thought on this is, if we are already bringing in an additional depth player through trade, just how many list spots do we think we're going to have open? Who is on the retirement or trade out queue already?

Don't know about this,

He did a great job on Lever against us and got on the scoreboard plus some goal assists. I can’t comment much beyond that but I saw enough in that game to be pleased with this. Has talent.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
