Surprised nobody has mentioned this letter from the MFC President Kate Roffey.

Lots of good news which is wonderful to hear.

It seems we have 2 new board members too. Steve Morris and Mohan Jesudason are retiring and being replaced by Sarah Robinson and Geoff Porz. They both seem capable.

Here is the link regarding the letter: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1420657

Thanks Supreme.

"..

Many of you will be familiar with Geoff Porz, who has deep connections to the club as a 40+ year member, Foundation Legend and founding member of the Inner Sanctum. Geoff brings strong knowledge and experience in property, infrastructure and facility development, having developed assets in excess of $1.4 billion.   "

Is Geoff the man who will finally lead us to a piece of promised land, for a true home facility?

Many false dawns, but forever optimistic.

Let’s hope we don’t have a [censored] fight about this again.

What he is is Sam Stynes' husband. Bit of Demon royalty there!

He, David Rennick and Kate Roffey make a powerful combo at any table where our future base is being planned or negotiated.

I was expecting the 'Agin the Board' mob to be up in arms with mates of the board getting a leg up, lack of transparency, wheres my email etc etc etc.

Maybe they haven't coz they like the appointments, so then its......ok

I am happy with the appointments.

No complaints from me.

However, I will be asking the question about the progress of our Home Base at the MFC AGM as usual. I am extremely passionate about this issue and will not give up on it until it is finally resolved and our Home Base is built.

The possibility of the Caulfield Racecourse looks promising though. But we shall wait and see. Especially as nothing has been confirmed yet.

Besides winning Premierships, and financial security, obtaining a Home Base for the Melbourne Demons should be our number one priority.

Clearly some people feel threatened by democratic processes at play.

Ah, that Geoff...

Seemed a pretty good bloke the times I've met him.

Let's hope he can help get the home base project up and running.

Please google him and Sarah Robinson and report back to Demonlanders.

Why don't you just enlighten us?

He is the CEO of DFO.

Here's to an extremely exciting period ahead for our great club. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve over the next few months.

this didn’t age very well at least for the boys team

True.

It didn't age well.

But we all were extremely excited....just sadly we all got disappointed. 😔

Anyway, the only thing I will be bringing up with the Melbourne Football Club Board is what is the current progress of our Home Base at the Caulfield Racecourse?

'Under the Melbourne Football Club Constitution, nominations for election as a director generally close at least 30 days prior to the date of the AGM each year. The 2022/23 AGM is proposed to be held in December 2023. It is likely that the call for nominations for the board will be published on this page in mid October 2023.'

Above is from the Club's Governance Page. Fire up Demonlanders - if you want positive change, start at the top!

I am sure if people wish to nominate then they will do so.

I would love to be on the Melbourne Football Club Board. But unless I was a multimillionaire or a billionaire I don't think I would have the qualifications to join the Board. Even just money doesn't bring skillsets.

All I ask is that we remain a stable Football Club and we strive to win more Premierships, continue to grow our membership numbers, increase our financial strength with more investments, and last, but my no means least, get our Home Base finally built at the Caulfield Racecourse (or wherever it will be)!

JR you have just won my comment of 2023. Sadly there is no prize just the honour.

Why don't you nominate, you appear to do a lot of talking about how the club needs to be run.

Or is that just cheap talk?

Hope you’re well

It would be best to have a number of members nominate - hopefully members with a range of skills.

It would also be better if members received a direct email advising them of the retirements and who, currently on the Board) is required to run this year. I believe that is Brad Green this year, but we have not been advised formally of that.

Kate's letter advised of the two retirements (at the end of the season - is that now?) , but then also advises us that their replacements have already been 'welcomed to the Board'. So they have been appointed by the Board, not the members.

The next comment is normally - "if you don't like it or them you can run against them". It's a shame that it comes to that rather than going to members first.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
