Emails didn't go into the Junk folder. Was one of the first places I checked so it's possible it was blocking them further up the chain.

It's a Bigpond issue, we've had similar problems at work with Bigpond not receiving emails.

The club's response to my email:

Sorry to hear you didn't get the email.
I can see you were opted in for all emails as per the attachment below.
Your barcodes will remain the same for the length of the Finals series and Grand Final.
We will look into this further ahead of our next onsale.
Appreciate you raising this issue.

The family of one of my staff are dedicated Collingwood supporters and they have reserved seats for all home games, they just got their finals tickets, and they are sitting in the same spot they sit in every week.

How does this work?  I have legends membership and sit in the same seats every week but when I went to get tickets I finished in the nose bleed section of the Warne stand.  Do Collingwood get some sort of preferential treatment?

After 35years in the MCC  unsuccessful for MCC tickets I will be watching from AFL members wing Thanks to friends

You go week after week for the season in all weather and you join a conga line of competitors chasing tickets at the end of the year. Surely the MCC can do better than this system

Possibly because they are the “home” team or one of the benefits of being the higher ranked team. 

Better that than David King’s proposed 75/25 split for tickets.

I work in Marketing and know recently Bigpond mail has blacklisted a lot of these mass email platforms as spam so this is likely what has happened here

I and it seemed others received the Sunday email which would also have been a mass mail out.

Whatever the cause I hope the club/AFL sort it out before the next Final.

I have 6 tickets, Bay Q9 Level 4 Row D seats 15 - 20 that I don't need, I'm going to the AFL function so rather than have them go to waste I'm happy to offload them for face value $428.30 if anyone is interested.

Then your visitor will be sitting somewhere else.

I agree there has to be a better way. I was in at 9.10 and got 1 seat Level 4. I needed two. Everything else was sold out.

there is a better way for the multi seat issue - either mcc afl or the rest of the mcg.

When you book you book your seat(s) out of a block. When that block is fully booked (mixture of seat numbers per buyer) the computer then calculates where everyone sits keeping the multis seated consecutively.

So what is a block? Any combination of area/row(s) that make reasonable sense.

It could be a whole area (e.g. Q49) or a single row (e.g. Q49 row DD) or a group of rows (e.g, Q48 rows A+B+C)

So when you book you know roughly your seats, then sometime later when the block is fully booked you get notified of your specific seats.

Would make things so much easier and speed up booking. No great downside.

Would have thought the easiest to solution would be:

1.  Don't overlap on sales between MCC and Public and Public and AFL
2. Two public pre-sale periods (one for Collingwood members and one for Melbourne members)
3. Spread the on sales out over 2 days for each game - there are two weeks ffs.
4. MCC visitor tickets are always going to cause problems for Melbourne games so there really isnt much that can be done without banning guest passes. But that is where the MCC is making their money ie I bought 9 full/restricted seats on level 2 for $120 and 6 level 4 visitor tickets for $600 so they will never ban visitors.

Club members should be looked after first that all Im saying.So a Collingwood supporting non member gets a seat and I dont? Its a club right?

The MCC should have loyalty points to determine access to seating during finals and which club you support.

Why should for example a Richmond MCC member or a MFC/MCC who went to no games during H/A have the same level of access to a Demons finals as an MFC/MCC member who has gone to 9 games at the G all year?

Very fair comment and the exact same should be said for AFL membership (although in fairness they give priority access to club supporters of competing grand final clubs)

The (harsh) counter argument is that if you want to ensure you get a ticket to see your club play a final, get a club membership rather than an AFL or MCC membership.

And/Or do tickets as a ballot system for club members.

Enter your barcodes and your credit cards. Choose your preferred seating option, then click submit.

Once the ballot period closes, the computer randomly selects ballot winners and allocates them tickets and charges their credit card, finalising the purchase.

This way we aren't dependent on  internet connections to try to get live access to their system to buy tickets, we only have one person per group transaction entering details.

Ballot can be allocated in priority if they want. Any unallocated tickets after ballot can then be opened for public sale.

I'm not MCC but I understand a big selling point is "you're a member of the MCC so have the opportunity to attend any event".

If you limit ticket sales to club support members only it limits that benefit, so it is a major change. I suspect there are many casual AFL supporters amongst MCC members who just love sport, and attend a variety of club games each year.

But I do think it would make it a better spectacle and atmosphere if that could be achieved. Perhaps a similar ballot system could be used but with increased chance of getting tickets if you are a club support member rather than an absolute priority?

Great point. All AFL Members should have to nominate a Club and only get tickets if those clubs compete.

Completely defeats the purpose of AFL membership. If you want priority on-sales be a club member and not AFL member.
