Somewhat Pyrrhic victory with Petty going down.

Hope he's ok

Bad start but good we didn't fold like Pies did

Gus was very good.

Last week it was our talls, this time our smalls kicked them.

Madly looking up “Pyrrhic”

The two scapegoats every week

Thought JJ was good & Harmesy was ok.

The amount of criticism for these two is unbelievable

Harmes is a great clubman & used to be a fan favourite, how things have changed

Viney BOG for me. Stood tall and lead from the front when we were not switched on.

10 clearances, 10 inside 50s

An absolute beast

Viney has stepped up massively since Oliver went down.

Imo he is in career best form and at the right end of the season.

I’ve always liked Harmes, but what exactly did you see today that you liked? He slipped over all day. Tried to do too much as usual. Kicked the ball out on the full with no pressure. Constantly goes backwards with the ball and takes on the tackle. Was caught holding the ball too often. Missed his opportunities on goal. Dropped marks. Happy to hear what you liked

He turned up.

We have been playing all of the season with an unsettled forward line mostly without Petty there but currently sit second on the ladder. Brown or Grundy can still do the second tall job. Fritsch will be back soon as well. Smith is also a handy replacement forward or back for Petty.  Not to forget about Clarry.

My other takeaways from the couch - appallingly slippery surface - everyone slipping over on both sides, and secondly the adjudicating clowns giving no credit to both sides for fantastic football actions like “tackling” or “push in the back”. But my word they were good for the one “not 15” they called. Clowns.

Don't forget about not paying that other staple in our game called "marks"

Amazing depth = bunch of VFL players. Tomlinson, Grundy (unless rucking), Ben Brown, Joel Smith, Tom McDonald…none of them are up to it

The word curmudgeon always comes to mind when you carry on like this.

Put his head over the ball, 20 possessions, 6 tackles 8 contested possessions & as l said played his role as an inside mid

Disposal efficiency was average at 60%

As l said he played ok

Being ok at 27 and on the fringes isn’t really what is expected max he has not addressed the areas of deficiency

Was deeply concerned during the first quarter.

Luckily our class rose to the top against the Kangaroos.

Definitely a blow losing Harry Petty to injury.

Kozzie and Chandler both had great games.

Petracca and Viney both wonderful.

Max Gawn was huge, as always, against 2 North Melbourne ruckmen as well.

Harmes was awful. Just does dumb things which are incredibly frustrating!

Anyway, it was a good win in the end by 32 points.

He is brushing off tackles , side stepping away from traffic and pumping into the 50 brilliantly at the moment

Harmes was poor with the ball no doubt.  But he did chase and tackle and put his head over the ball

I suspect this might be Good's thinking in playing him.  A senior body to play midfield minutes before Clarry come back

It’s a fair point. I watched him closely on replay and was much more impressed than I was at the match

Petty 🏥

Smith down back 🤔

Clarity / form of the fringe mids

Percentage

Mental preparation 🤮

Speed and skill through the middle 👎

Take the 4 points but not a good day.

Genuine team ethos

Finding a way to win

Arresting momentum and resetting in game.

Competition for spots

Adaptive coaching

Not getting sucked into media narratives.

Please review the ladder this year and 22 and 21, and just say thank you.

You don't have to sit in the cheer squad area and you probably keeps as far away as possible anyway.

No different to any banners, flags, large pom poms, spinning targets, etcetera. Those kids with small flags probably antagonise you.

The ground needs their atmosphere and the energy they bring. Game day is only a little of what they do for the club. "Unnecessary and annoying", I think you may be on your own with that opinion. Another guess is you don't Mexican wave, or dance, during dance cam. Not making the most out of the live experience are you?

They are so much fun, I have often heard our young supporters getting excited about the giants heads. I don't understand your antagonism.

Well done Demon Army, we need you and you are at the cutting edge of supporter's accessories.  Keep us entertained, and continue making lots of fun, colour and noise for our teams.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
