if they lose to Geelong next week in Geelong, we may end up playing them in Melbourne instead :)

Great, another week I have to not wish death upon Geelong.

The beauty of middle age and not going out on a Saturday night. Shall I start with the Dustin Fletcher Hangar or Big Footy Port Adelaide? Tough

Interesting how the head clash incident in the Port game is being labelled migraine and not concussion. FMD.
Good seeing Port prioritising player welfare

Typo

Cripes. So many upsets this round. I don’t want any upsets tomorrow. I want a……downset?

Port look exhausted. Kens contract might end up being an administrative blunder.

You mean an administrative Masterclass. It hasn’t been signed yet and may not even be presented for signing…

Port will be lucky to win 2 of its last 4 games and will go out in straight sets, mark my words.

As I suspected, they went hard early because Ken’s job is very much on the line. It’s impossible to sustain for 24 rounds then finals.
Will they find a third gear in time?

Only @binman can answer this one 😂

Well now with this result looking like you were right and theres a door open for us to get to 2nd. I really didnt think it would be possible but id def take it.

Hopefully buddy injury not too serious and he gets to play again

After all the talk and work on concussion this year in particular, can the AFL seriously allow Port to get away with this?

Not much from Bomberblitz:

"Might be an unpopular opinion but losing this game and potentially missing finals is for the betterment of the club."

Dont want last round to be a game we are reliant on winning

Yeah good point. I do feel like he’s coached relatively well, but I still don’t like their team defence or structure behind the ball.

There was a story in one of the papers today about the 25 rule changes made to deal with concussion since 2005. AFL need to really step up take points of Port.

Beat Richmond tomorrow and thanks to all this weekend's upsets second place is up for grabs if we are good enough. That's a big incentive that would rule out possible travel to Brisbane or Adelaide.

I will never understand why people melt after wins on here when we have rounds like this.

Felt guilty barracking for Freo today, but it couldn’t have worked out any better.

Far out, footy messes with your head. Usually watching Papley I’m thinking of how much I can’t stand his annoying mug. Just now I yelled out “Yes! Go Paps!!” Come round 24 and I’ll be back to wishing him a pregame injury. It’s exhausting!

Reminds me of when I yelled out " Go Milney!" during the drawn 2010 GF.
Watching neutral games can be confusing to say the least.

Port are pretenders. 3 losses in a row and conceding 100+ points yet again. Would happily finish 3rd and face them at Adelaide oval.

They’re Melbourning it

Tipsters nightmare this round...

I may be going 0-9 hahaha

Obviously I want to be 1-8, Dees over the Tigers 🤞🏻

Good round of football, this.

Such a wild set of results that nobody can really make a clear claim to understand what it all means.

Fun that the biggest upsets - Gold Coast vs Brisbane and Adelaide vs Port - are also the only two games with any margin to speak of.

Hey, if 13th and 14th can beat 2nd and 3rd, maybe even West Coast are a chance to miraculously bridge the gap between them and second last?

But seriously, there could not have been a better time to be reminded to never take any team lightly. Plus, 2nd is now in the mix so it is time to get serious.

Buddy is a spent force. It’s actually better for us if he plays

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.
