BB he mentioned that he has already put on 6kg so that is a good start and he is listed at 195cm 6’4” same as Shwarter.

Well done Mathhew Jefferson and MFC sounds like the young bloke is starting to build nicely, another pre-season and another 6kg on that frame and watch out we’ll have JvR and Jefferson Ford running around with Fritta, Kozzie and Chandler then look out.!!!

I'd start drooling at the idea of anyone close to be a Swarta !!

Plenty of upside here.  Good signing.  Looking forward to seeing his development after another pre-season or two.

Some VG signs in his last month or so.

Reminds me a bit of the Duke with a much better kicking action.  For those too young to remember...

Whenever I venture down to Casey I do keep an eye on him. He is a smart player who will benefit from some strength and conditioning and being in the AFL system.

He is someone I'm looking forward to seeing next season after another year in the system. Knowing he will be here an extra few years is great news given he might be given an opportunity to play senior footy as early as next season.

Apparently the lads call him the "magician", must have something to do with his skills perhaps? Any info on that?

He knows how to vanish……sorry I couldn’t help myself

What a dream if he and JVR both reach their full potential.  I guess we will have to wait until at least mid 2024 to get a better idea.

In reality this probably just happens for boring administrative reasons, but I like to think these signings that happen a year earlier than they need to do so as a sign of faith in the young players, to take the pressure off somewhat. I like it.

I'm guessing it is a bit like Nibbler. Say 'Matt Jefferson' repeatedly and fast enough and it garbles to majeffeon, which doesn't sound like any word except magician.

The way he launches at contested marks and the odd screamer and the way he spins out of traffic at times, JVR is definitely the player we've had in the last 20 years that most reminds me of Swarta.  Just need to make sure his knees stay in good shape.

Could also be because JT doesn’t think there is any better key position forward we are likely to draft in the next 2 years, so it’s a no brainer to keep developing Jefferson. His position on the list is not going to become surplus in other words.

sensible for a tall taken with an early pick but i think we need to be careful with these automatic extensions we're handing out. As a good side we have less undesirable players which means the squeeze is on and list management may have written hibbo/melky off at the end of this season and now it looks like they may both play on. yes Howes, Laurie and DTurner have been ok in vfl but why did we lock them into 2yr deals similar with Chandler and Spargo for 3, i'd be making those 1 and 2 year extensions respectively coz now we're stuck with another year of Laurie who just doesn't look likely and is unfortunately clogging us up a bit in terms of list flexibility

Agree

At least he signed the standard 2 year extension like everyone except that guy now playing for Freo

Looking forward to seeing him debut post bye 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
