I also have an MCC/MFC membership and have a two year old son. I prioritise the footy for 3 hours on a weekend, but each to their own. I know not everyone is like that.

Do you live equidistantly 5 minutes walk away from the MCG and Marvel? How else do you manage to fit it all in within 3 hours! 🙂

Maybe 3.5 hours 😉. But I deliberately aim to arrive 10 mins before the bounce.

I don't mind marvel, but I'm usually going with my partner (who couldn't give two [censored] about footy) and friends who are mainly non Melbourne people. As a result we usually default to the nosebleeds GA. Unless you get a spot right by the rails your vision of at least part of the ground is obscured.

Not the best experience when spending over $100

I'm not that down on it.

One thing in its favour is it is very easy to find your seats and navigate.

And it's great viewing from all seats, including where I usually sit - top stand behind the goals.

I live in altona, so coming in by train is great because it's quick and southern Cross is only a couple of minutes to the ground.

Most Footy grounds grew out of local participation...  They've seen a lot of history. The G reeks of it.

Marvellous was a commercial enity born out of wedlock it is a Mary Shelley like concoction.... though to be fair there's some sentiment to be had for Franky.

It is indeed soulless...its  a cold lacklustre place...     there's worse...

Don’t often agree with this man but with Docklands I do. It is a [censored] place to watch footy. Went last year to the North game but I usually avoid Docklands and will not be going on Saturday.

I’m confused by the lack of forwards

You and me, but why change something that is working so well?

Smith has been our best forward since coming into the team, finally we dropped Chandler but not bringing in JVR is insane.

Woewodin, Charlie McSpargo and jimmy O’Jordan.

Melk hold his place.  A forward line that didnt work in ‘21, why now….??

I'd suggest there is only one way we are kicking enough goals this week and that's by Gawn or Grundy giving Marshall and their back up midget ruckman a hiding.  Which frankly, should happen.  Otherwise what's the point of having them both?

Forwards can’t be inaccurate if there are no forwards.

This is the master plan we’ve been working on. Genius.

Unless Petty is playing forward then I would agree.

Saints do not seem to have a tall forward line either.

Out: Fristch (injured), Chandler, Smith, Harmes (omitted)
In: Jordon, Spargo, Woewodin and Melksham

IMO this is a much better balanced side than we have had for the last 5 games. Much more run and rotations available for the mids and a good mix in the forward 50. Brown did a reasonable job last week given the conditions and I expect him to do well under the roof.

I think we will see Gawn/Grundy resting mainly forward to pair with Brown a the tall. I could even see Petty moving forward if the defence is well on top.

Good variation and flexibility available with these selection.

We will win this one by 2 goals or 12 points.

Premiership standard defence back

Best inside 50 connector back in Charlie

Melksham can play tall

Must give bbb another week under the roof. Last week's experiment wasted due to rain.

Great to have another "Wowey" to cheer. Good luck Taj

Acceptable changes that will either set us up for run home with jvr to be added somehow. Or start of slide. I'm expecting the former.

Pretty happy that BB is in form and playing at his old stomping ground (he’s kicked 177 goals there). Rate him to kick a few snags!

They love Spargo. Dunstan not in the mix again nor JVR.

Season on the line on Saturday.

BBB needs to kick 3 or 4 in the dry conditions.  Oliver done for season?

Fascinating selections.

So Smith or Chandler the sub?

We seem to have gone away from the three tall forward set up, and will go with Brown and Gawn/Grundy.

Melksham is near the end, if not done, and I don't like his chances of impacting this week.

Aside from Kozzy and maybe Brown, there's not much to get excited about in the forward half. We're going to have to get a few goals out of Trac and our mids too.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
