Tiges having their [censored] handed to them here. My preference was a tiges win but now that doesn't look possible i hope they get belted by 100 points.

We donโ€™t want Brisbane to close in our our percentage. Third spot is still up for grabs.

Geezzz. ย I didn't realise that there was a game on tonight. ย Half time BNR 9.7 Times 1.7

We now have little chance of finishing top two, so 3 or 4 will (probably) be our goal. ย And which would be better for us will obviously depend on Port and Magpies being 1 or 2. ย Whatever, it would probably be best for us to be 4 if Collingwood is 1, or 3 if they are 2.

PS how bad are the Tigers??

We should take care of our own business and not expect anyone else to take care of it for us. Do that and it won't matter what other teams do.

Yes.

Nice of Steve Smith to score his ton during half time.

32 centuries in 99 test matches is nothing to sneeze at

Best result is the teams pushing for 4th place losing, namely Essendon, Bulldogs + Saints.

Agree with other posters who suggested finishing fourth and playing the filth in the first week of the finals is preferable to finishing 2nd or 3rd and playing an away final v Brisbane or Port.ย

Watching the Tigers in decline should remind all our players (and management / staff ย etc) that though they had great success over 5 years or so, without constant renewal of list and of game plans glory can be very fleeting. ย We need to make the most of every season while we are "in the window".

Just a heads up next week. Brisbane play West coast at the Gabba.

That could get very ugly for Adam Simpsonย

Maybe the Eagles should drag their ex coach / pharmacist out of retirement for one last fling next week!

And our guys need to consider building up percentage whenever they get an opportunity. ย BNE will pass us next week more than likely.

Did anyone see 21 for tigers get tackled with his arms pinned and do his best to try and make his head hit the ground to reverse the free for getting caught holding?

Just a freak batsman and a big occasion player

The Demon equivalent is Petracca or Oliver ... where's Clarrie!!!

Brisbane now only 1.1% behind us.ย

@binmanย - unfortunately that 13% gap we had post-KB has nearly dissipated.ย

(edit: and obviously theyโ€™re also 2 wins up albeit with one extra game)

Disappointing but if Collingwood are able to finish first then I'd rather finish 4th than 3rd and play week 1 on our home ground.

Happy for Brisbane to travel to Adelaide to play Port in week 1.

Did anyone hear Chris Fagan this morning on radio in his debrief of last night's game?

My ears pricked up when he mentioned that his side was banged up in last year's finals series, particularly his defence, in addition to Daniher, the big O and others missing.

I thought we were the only team banged up.

So much rides on where you finish in the top four ( eight). We can avoid going to hellish interstate venues if the dice roll our way and we get Pies 1 v 4 or maybe 2 v3. Straight throught to Prelim MCG.ย

I still think ii can be done from 5 -8 if your team is fit and healthy.ย

Lions Port and Pies have peaked but how long can they keep it going.

Collingwood appear to be in a flat spot and I reckon they'll be aiming to play better football and peak by August/September.

Brisbane are starting to build after a scratchy 3 weeks prior to their win last week Vs St Kilda. Not sure they've peaked yet on a consistent basis.

Port are a big question mark. They have been brilliant for 12 weeks but it's going to be something else for them to maintain their spot in the top 2 without having a flat spot and dropping a couple of games before finals.ย

I hope we've far from peaked but we can't seem to find that consistency over the last 6 weeks and rattle off 4-5 wins in a row which we'll need to do if we want to be a serious player later in the year.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
