I think it is possible that the fitness professionals know more about it than we - or at least I -do.

Correct, will back their judgement over mine anytime.

However if something looks odd or weird it's worth asking the question.

In brighter news ( to some) I'M BAAACK from our 12 week sojourn Nth and soooo If DEES are training at CASEY tommorrow , ?? I'm sure I can mosey down and do a Training report!! Can anyone confirm?? Cheers to all .PF

Do you mean more than other interstate trips? If so, in what way? For example, is it not a direct flight?

Would that suggest BBB is on his way back in and the Petty up forward experiment is dead in the water?

More the second part I reckon.

Cannot confirm, though they have regularly been down at Casey for the main training this season.

My guess would be, train at Casey on Wednesday, fly to Alice Thursday, community events Friday, Saturday, captain's run on Traiger oval, and play Sunday.

Are you for real?  Jack does  not need managing when in top form.

Jack's come of the ground in consecutive games with a shoulder. Both times in considerable pain. First time it was described as a 'stinger' but that sounds like a ruse.

Are we sure it's a shoulder issue with Viney? After the Pies game they said he suffered a bit of a pinched nerve in the neck, in the Cats game he looked just as done as the Pies game only to continue on unhindered again. Maybe it was the nerve again.

Happy to give Viney a rest if needed, we should have enough depth to cover. We don't want him or others busted up again like last year....

Fair enough if the medicos get on top of it and judge that he be managed.

I'm no judge on fitness but BBB looked pretty fit to me on the handball.

"BBB was training well within the group, did everything.

He previously had his own program"

I've really only been able to see the Monday review training sessions this year. Lately they have been doing an extra 30 minutes on a Monday, but that is due to the fact that they have had a 4 or 5 day break from the last game.

I would assume the "loading" is done in the gym, because the training session I've observed don't usually go longer, and the running sessions don't seem to be more extensive.

Trainings seem to be about processes and skills. Even during preseason, they were doing a lot more ball work, than other years.

If they are pushing players, I'd imagine they would absolutely need individual programs, so as to optimise the work. Training is usually a group/team program.

With loading, they need closer analysis, with specific cardiovascular parameters, which is better suited to a gym.

The rehabbers have specific field programs they need to tick off. It is usually done with a one on one, trainer and trainee assistance. I assume if the entire squad is loading then there is not enough trainers to assist. Again, the only place where many can be monitored and do specific programs, is a gym.

If they are loading it would be happening out of sight, I reckon.

Interesting kev - do you mean an extra 30 minutes intensive training after short breaks?
As you pint out though much of the “loading” would probably involve gym work away from prying eyes.

Surely it depend on what the problem is.

Leaving on Saturday for a Sunday game with community work as well?  Sounds a bit strange.  I understand that in the past they would go up mid week.

No, I mean 4 to 5 days since they played a game, making it 9 to 10 days between games.  It appeared to be, extra intensity on the Monday during the longer breaks.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
