Tomlinson maybe, but there was nothing in Melksham’s game tonight that looked like an AFL return. Got silver service and added goals in junk time

There's an interesting nugget among that bucket of opinion.  You might not lije Milkshake but he has and can make something of nothing.  Ar times he can be that one to pick the ball outof the air 40 out..and yes sometimes theyre in the junk zone of quarters.  Tbh...thats fine by me as we are very poor , imo, at capitalising on those periods.

Could Melksham come in for ANB? I know Goody won't do it but something has to change

This should be a MUST.

No. Disposal way off.

I've been thoroughly opposed to Dunstan getting promoted on the back of his disposal. While he can certainly find the footy, his disposal, for the most part stinks and stops him getting a gig. Last night though, he was spot on for the 90% of the game I saw. If he could keep that up he'd get games (Jeez he'd be handy as a sub with Oliver out) and I'd love to see more of it.

Fair enough. Everybody (especially footballers) seems to unnecessarily add "to be honest" to every sentence.

Goodie ads at least 2 "there's no doubt about that" to every press conference.

Thought Benny Brown was moving well last night. Worked hard up the ground and took a few good contested marks. He'd be my in next week.

Thought Spargo was poor. His body language was disappointing and didn't put a performance in that screams of someone desperate to get his spot back. He can stay at Casey for the next 4 weeks based on last night's performance.

Vice versa on Harmes. This is his level now. Few attempts at don't argues and then just butchers going forward. Woewodin and Dunstan would be my first preference ahead of him.

Thought Daniel Turner was super last night. Just cleaned up off half back and marked everything that came his way. Poor kid would be getting a game elsewhere in the AFL.

Will Varrell has something. Don't know what it is, but his leap and timing was impressive.

Re Spargo, cannot see him getting back in the side!

He’s a genuine midfield forward and we are deficient in both areas at the moment.

English is also my first language, I'm just really bad at it.

*apologies for the lame set-up and joke, felt funny at the time and is sort of an inside joke as my partner, who isn't a native English speaker, speaks English far better than I do.

Can anyone explain why Shannon Neil was awarded a free at the 24 min mark of the third when he went up against Deakyn in a 1 v1??

Deakyn had front berth and both hands went up for the mark?

Incredible.  Lucky Neil's kick for goal was only a minor.

If anyone can think of a reason after reviewing it i'd genuinly be interested in your thoughts.

Dunstan's kicking was certainly a coin flip in this match but he did pull off a ripping 40 meter kick lacing out BB on a lead into the flank at the 2:40 mark of the last from just forward of wing.

The sealer for this match actually came from some nice work at ground level from Jefferson to Bill to Melk for an around the corner (7:30 in the last).

Shannon was singing "What About Me" at the time and the foolish umpire fell for it.

That's as plausible as any explanation likely to be put forward DS!

Pretty good effort by Jake Melksham to kick 4 goals for the Casey Demons. Worth another sneaky chance to play in the senior side?

Perhaps he will get to play 100 games for Melbourne after all?

Very clever forward craft exponent.

He finds space on his opponents when others often struggle.

Takes the odd decent contested mark.

He rarely misses from within range (say 30 - 40 max).

I'd take him ahead of Spargo or Chandler at this point given his Casey form, experience and ability to finish off the good work up the field.

That's not to say Spargo or Chandler can't get back to some decent goal kicking form themselves at some stage.

However at this point, in terms of potential to finish off other's good work in front of goals, Melksham's presently a fair way ahead of those two imv.

Best to watch the first half Sydee.

Most players were a bit off in the third vs the 1st half as Geelong upped their effort & pressure significantly.

Contested aerial work, lead efforts, 2nd efforts at ground level, Ruck work up forward, a few Marks inside 50, goal efficiency and work providing an outlet up the ground should see him coming straight in.

4th quarter was quite good also although not quite as busy/involved as his first half.

I wish I could argue on the basis of his stats but I didn't see the game so I can't really insist otherwise. Cheers.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
