Demonland has made the difficult decision to not to permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

They choked badly against the doggies in the 21 PF so they have psychological scars to overcome. No guarantee they’ll make it but I think they will.

That’s what they said about us in 21 re playing a PF in WA. I didn’t spot our mental scars that night and I highly doubt  Port will be losing a final in Adelaide… they’re just a much better side in 23.  Just hope it’s not us that have to play them there.

We have the defensive game to win at AO if required. I reckon we're the team others will fear most given how we strangled the pies offensive game. No one will want to play us.

And i'm delighted the cast were beaten. they were not a factor at all after quarter time.

We just posted simultaneously Wells

I agree. They are a better team than 21. Time will tell if they can push through to the granny but they are very well placed now. I can't see anyone out of us, pies, Port and Lions winning it. And the Lions are showing some familiar frailties again.

as i said in my previous post, i think we have the game plan to win at AO if required.

Our chance to finish top 2 was taken when we lost to them by 4 points. That was every bit an 8 point game. So most likely we’ll finish 3rd and play them week 1, a game I think we can win.

My ladder predictor exercise after last night says that IF we can beat the cats next week, top of ladder finish is now a possibility on percentage from Pies and Power.  Power finishing top relies on a couple of tough wins needed for them.

Lose to the cats and not possible.

Better chance of second, third more possible, at least allowing a minimum home final in week two.

Just saying having seen the Dees live last week.

Watched the last 5 mins only. Biggest take out is that the dissent rule does not apply to Hawkins.

It wasn’t just Hawkins. JHF audibly told the umpire to F Off when he got paid HTB and nothing was done.

Dissent rule is no longer flavour of the month 🙄

Pies look tired. They could easily drop some games and give us the chance to overtake them. Crows, suns and doggies in their next 3. Not an easy run at all.

I have felt that for quite some period of this season teams have found an extra gear in order to take us on . We were THAT scalp.

I sense the mantle has moved to Collingwood.   Works for me.

David King's first comment at the half time commentary " A coaching masterclass by Chris Scott" King  is a jerk at times, more often than not.

The ‘King’ of the ‘goldfish’ commentators only ….. no awareness of the past, absolutely zero concern for the bigger picture within a season. Whoever is in form and winning during his astonishingly limited 5 minute zone of reflection is the obvious team to beat/likely premier. Am stunned that he’s presented as a serious commentator.

History shows Dangerfield would call a ambulance for a paper cut.  There has been several times he has taken himself off the ground and out of the game because he felt the slightest twinge.  Unlike our man Clarry who played out a game with a torn hammy.

Port are due for a loss.

They are and now teams will put more time into studying what they do and how to beat them. Let's see how they go in the 2nd half of the year. I'll happily play then anywhere and be confident we would win

Was it ever going to be any other way?

Their cache only allows for one front of mind thing at a time and right now it's dangerous tackles. Dissent to the back of the bus.

Port are peaking now

Demons will peak in a couple of months

😎

It’s a fair point you can’t be at 100% for the whole year, this time last year we would have been favourites still and Geelong were just starting to get rolling

Port is now the true test of the theory that if you peak too early you'll be too banged up by September. Theyre 12-2.  Massive mid season bye. Dont play again till July.

Some difficult games coming up but can see them finish on 17 or 18 wins  definitely top2.   Home finals.

Must be one of the favourites unless  Butters Rozee Wines etc get run over by a bus.

There’s many such players. Conversely, you won’t find many players with a short torso and long legs. Not really suited to Aussie Rules.

Port have 16 days between games. We got 10 for our bye . We always seem to get screwed by the fixture

I hate Hawkins, Rohan + Scott. I think I've forgotten another person I hate. No matter.

I kinda like Stewart, Blicavs, Henry (the odd looking one) & Zac Guthrie.

I hate Jee-long (clap/clap/clap) but not as much as I used to; cos Selwood is no longer there.

Yes but we will have 3 x 10 day breaks in a row.

We will be the most rested, freshest team in the comp ready to take on the rest of the season.

    PODCAST: Jason Taylor Interview

I'm interviewing the Melbourne Football Club Recruitment Manager Jason Taylor early next week on the Demonland Podcast. I'll be asking him about moving up the draft order, our new recruits (both Draftees and Trades), Daniel Curtin, our recent recruits who have yet to play a senior game, who he thinks will be the next Judd McVee and more. If you have any further questions let me know below and I'll see if I can squeeze them in. I will release the podcast either Monday or Tuesday.

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE by Meggs

It was a hot afternoon at IKON where the ferocious Cats came to play, had read the manual on how to beat us and the Demons were unable to match them for the first three quarters.     With physical pressure, they took the game on with relative ease and though our resistance seemed better than the previous two weeks it was still not good enough.     Within the opening minute, Kate Hore marks within range, but her shot was a miss-kick, like a fat iron, and it kinda set a flat tone f

    TURNAROUND by Meggs

Following successive comprehensive defeats by fellow Top Four heavyweights the Demons play down a division this Sunday against the highly promising Cats.     Strangely, no games against the Cats for five seasons and now we play them twice in one season.     With the blueprint on how to defeat the Dees available on the dark web the real question is, will we crumble again under the finals pressure cooker or will we rediscover our #DemonSpirit and execute a turnaround?   Mak

THE SECRET IS OUT by Meggs

We were expecting that after last week’s comprehensive defeat by Brisbane, our coach Mick Stinear would have his charges coming out breathing finals fire. Instead, it was North who had the aggression, the numbers, who blocked our scoring avenues and rendered us impotent, unable to match the Kangas during any phase of the match.   Darren Crocker, the North coach, later highlighted that how to beat Melbourne is no secret following recent losses to Adelaide and Brisbane and now North.

CATCH EM ON THE HOP by Meggs

A sunny Sunday afternoon feast of finals footy awaits at our team’s favourite home ground, Ikon Park.  Great vibes at Princes Park where we remain undefeated from 7 matches and counting. Expect the Dees to come out strongly, sparring and outmuscling the Kangaroos in the middle.  With Paxy back firing and our gun forwards mesmerising, hopefully we catch ‘em on the hop. Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane have filled ten of the twelve Grand Final spots in AFLW history, and this dominance

    COLD AGGRESSION by Meggs

“Cold aggression”, Lions star full forward Dakota Davidson called it. Brisbane outmuscled, outran, and ultimately overwhelmed us. They certainly came to play and exorcised their 2022 grand final grudge defeating the Demons in the rematch by 25 points. Stats count and Brisbane won the key ones. Inside 50s 42 to 24, centre clearances 8 to 6, uncontested possessions 133 to 75 and 51 marks to 27. The Lions’ sustained pressure is the kind we usually bring for other teams.   There

    HOME PRIZE by Meggs

Big stakes this weekend. For the winner, will it be a Dees minor premiership and potential home grand final or will it be a Lion‘s Top Four finish and a double chance?    Huge interest circulates in the how the ladder unfolds over this weekend’s final round of the 2023 home and away season with some 10 teams vying for 8 places.     It’s AFLW Pride Week, a celebration of people from all walks of life coming together, being respected, loved and accepted.
