Himmelberg, according to at least two clubs contacted by The Scoop, could command as much as $900,000 per season, if he were to leave the Giants. A long-term deal at that price would trigger first-round compensation, meaning GWS could have three first-round picks in the upcoming draft.

I will throw in a 29/30 year old.

Brisbane have benefitted over the last few years from the Hawthorn rebuild with Gunston, Birchall & Hodge...

Geelong benefited with Smith.

WC maybe looking at restructuring their list & I would think Elliot Yeo would be a good get for a few years. Shouldn't cost a lot but would add a lot to a contender.

Looks like WC are trying to play Yeo out of the team playing him at FB against Tex...

...make the call.

Does anyone watching Brisbane more attentively than I am, have an opinion on Zac Bailey?

Would've thought his speed, kicking andinside-50 effectiveness would be a useful addition to our midfield mix. My impression is that he currently gets used excessively on hff and in 'outside' roles, when his junior footy suggested he was quite happyy in the packs as well.

Bailey is always very dangerous against us. He does have good burst from the stoppage, but my read on him is he's better offensively, without much defensively. This is probably a Brisbane problem.

Thoughts on Darcy Parish to complement our mids with a bit of speed? Not an elite ball user, but he's probably quicker than anyone else in our midfield.

I guess it depends on cost...?

No way could we afford him. Plus we also have a better version in Oliver.

Id love to get an outside midfielder or half backer that can compliment Salem. I’d look to throw Boewy in the HF.

Parish has improved a hell of a lot the last couple of years, would doubt we could afford him. I personally feel Bowey has attributes and upside that complement the rest of our midfield, would love to see him given an extended run in there.

Providing his body is sound at the end of the season, I'd absolutely take Elliot Yeo.

Would compliment us perfectly.

He's certainly big bodied. He's a good player when fit and a reasonable user of the ball. Wouldn't say he was an elite user though.

It'd be hard stopping a midfield of Petracca, Yeo, Oliver, Viney and Sparrow. That's a strong, aggressive and powerful mix.

Love Bowser, but reckon he's too small for the midfield.

Yeah fair enough, agree he is potentially to small for the midfield but I would still love to see him given a go.

Realistically he's the same height as Lachie Neale but probably same build as Zak Butters.

I definitely think it can work.

And he is incredibly tough. It’s not the worse idea. I’d like to see him get stronger through his core tho. You don’t want him to be easily moved off the ball in the contest.

Think this needs to be a serious consideration over the summer similar to the transition the club did with Trent Rivers in doing more midfield training and working on his fitness/core as a plan for Bowy.

All i know os that our club doesn't get involved in bidding wars for second rate players that come on to the market and tout prices of $800+k a year.

How has that worked for Carlton?

When we have a need we target a player and get them, Think Langdon and Hibberd. All for a good price.

Our recruiting team is the nest in the business

We do need to develop a gorilla defender though. Not sure we have on of them anywhere.

Cerra, Zac Williams, McGovern, Jack Martin, Hewitt and Saad

Saad goes ok

Both Trac & Clarry would burn him. People still sleep on Oliver’s pace.

Larkey signed with the Roos apparantly, but perhaps  mckay may be gettable given his goal kicking woes?

don't believe so, last i heard is he was out of contract at the end of 2024, when he'll be a free agent

Just go and raid the Roos again for Larkey.

He can take over BBB's contract after next year.

I would try and target the following in order of who I’d like most to who is probably the most realistic

1. Larkey

2. Naughton

3. McKay (Ben)

4. Himmelberg (but not for the reported $900k!)

5. Georgiadis

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
