Would it be a horrendous decision to bring in Tomlinson (after two good games at Casey) to support may n lever next week?

It might free Rick up to play his preferred roaming intercept marking role….?

We are running out of options. We don’t have anyone to play on McKay. May has to take Curnow as only he has the speed and height to go with him.

I said Chandler was better than Spargo. IMO Chandler should have stayed on and Spargo should have been subbed off.

McVee was a different point. I don’t think McVee is setting the world on fire and he needs a rest, and I agree should be dropped, but he isn’t why we lost today.

Lever dropping 9 chest marks was more costly than anything McVee didn’t do in the contest I reckon.
It’s our senior players not standing up today, or for much of this season (Trac and Clarry aside), that is hurting us the most.

Agree with this entirely.

And I derps up the first bit, apologies.

Out: McDonald, Chandler, Harmes, Jordon

In: Brown, Hunter, Tomlinson

Tomlinson to fill the second key defender post and free up lever to be the 3rd tall. Would prefer Turner but don't think he has the size for carltons forwards.

When was the last time we made 4 changes to the team? Let alone 4 unforced changes. It simply won’t happen.

I would drop Harmes and McVee and bring Hunter back from suspension and Tomlinson (very reluctantly) to play on McKay.

There are about 7 players who you could drop after the last two weeks, but it’s unlikely to happen. Especially with Casey having a loss.

Tomlinson in is a must

Please god no.. If we’re playing Tommo we might aswell just fly the white flag.

The blues have a great list on paper just as we do.. And are as out of form as what we are. Anyone’s game. Certainly a lot less confident as I was with the game today. Doesn’t bode well..

We need a third tall down back.

You want to bring in Petty on one foot to play on Curnow/McKay? If you’re happy to go with May on McKay and Lever on Curnow or vice versa then don’t bring another tall in.

I would prefer Lever to go back to that intercepting role. I saw him get dragged to the wing numerous times yesterday leaving us a tad vulnerable inside defensive 50.

Outs

T Mac ( Never to play again! lost any mobility he had)

Van Rooyen (Back to Casey) not ready

Chandler ( Run outa Gas)

Either any of Nibbler, Spargo, Mc Vee, Harmes take your picks

Inns

BBB ( should have been straight in weeks ago 351 career goals still offers more

Joel Smith ( playing forward at Casey, deserves a crack)

Taj Woewodin ( consistent at Casey time to debut)

Tomlinson ( 3rd Tall on back of consistent Casey form)

Hunter ( returns from suspension)

Coaches on notice !! Stale ideas aint working time to think outside of the box

ANB had a couple of bad Nibbler moments but his tackling was excellent all day and it’s hard to say we don’t need that desperately. So many of his turnovers come from being in a side that makes it very hard for the player to know what to do given the lack of cohesion.

ANB tries his guts out. And i love him for it. He's a top-class character.

Ball in hand he is the worst player in the league. Yesterday was pathetic. I can't believe his tackling and effort is enough to compensate for his inability to handball 3 meters to a teammate. As soon as he got the ball the passage of play broke down. Every time. there has to a better option

Who runs with Curnow? It’s not Lever and May doesn’t have the agility. Tommo will get a bag kicked on him.

Mate im relieved we actually have two decent forwards to focus our efforts on. Will work to our advantage given that's all they focus on when they bomb it up forward.

Maybe I need to watch the replay but he laced out Fritsch/Spargo with the best inside 50 kick of the day and they spoiled each other. He also had a lovely release handball to Tracc on the wing, that’s just 2 I remember

To me he wasn’t worse than the display of butchery Harmes had. Or Spargo or Chandler

Knowing our luck Matt Owies or Jesse Motlop will probably kick 3 each 😂

Is Hibberd any chance to miss through injury? Looked to hobble of the ground near the end of the game.

Our forward line needs to be a priority imho.

Spargo has been a favourite of mine since he started.  A clever user of the ball and timely goalsneak. I do think at this point, he just doesn't get enough of the pill.

That would be very, very displeasing.

Got it more than lots of his mates

He is one of the very few that is capable of creating and hitting a target

I’d be waving bye bye to others before him

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
