Circumstances force me to take a circuitous route to the G today and, consequently, I shall be leaving one of The Manor's fleet at Wallan Railway Station. No doubt it will be stolen and I shall have to seek an alternative means of transportation in the pm.

However, my mood will not be dampened as I will have witnessed a comprehensive Dees victory.

Even with Clarrie MIA, I have no concerns about our ability to cover Freo in all respects.

We have flag aspirations. We must finish top 4 or , better still, top 2.

The second half of the season is near and dropping games to sides below you on the ladder simply cannot be allowed.

Car or bicycle?

Sounds like a rough neighbourhood. lol

A stunning day for football. No excuses not to come today. Let’s give the boys the lift they need to get this very crucial win.

It was  a year ago this round we played freo and that started our first loss.

Lets hope for a better result today.

From the Age re last year.

"Christian Petracca woke up sick on game day, not even 24 hours after Melbourne withdrew key forward Tom McDonald from the selected side with ankle soreness.

McDonald did not play again for the rest of the season, eventually diagnosed with a dreaded Lisfranc injury, after being named then pulled out of the following week’s clash with the Sydney Swans, too.

They also lost All-Australian defender Steven May to a concussion before quarter-time in a friendly fire incident with teammate Jake Lever, before a knee issue hobbled fellow key backman Harry Petty in the third term."

Explains a lot.

"KIcking the dew off" is a classic old footy saying that refers to the first match of the day, usually in the morning, when the grass is still dewy from overnight.  I wasn't impugning your footballing talent.  :D

I thought he was referring to Casey, and dazzle sparkling in that game.

Somehow I’ve attracted a horrible flu bug into my system. Razor blades in the throat, body aches like I’ve gone 15 rounds with the heavyweight champ, and a nose that resembles the beer tap at a crowed pub - it never stops flowing. So, if my comments today offend anyone, I’m sorry. If for some reason I criticise WCW, or worse, praise her, again I’m sorry. It’s the drugs.

We have an important day today - my 6 year old nephew (Dad: Kangas, Mum: Carlton) has insisted to his parents that he barracks for the Dees like his cousins. Today will be his first game.

Want to see us play on the edge for the entire match, hard, fast, smart footy.

Plenty of tackling pressure, hunting and creative handballing and kicks.

They will not give the backline easy intercepts, as the Waly's are good at not kicking down the line of the goals. Hope to see our defence being more one on one and accountable.

Small forwards need to kick a handful.

Go Dees.

An overly aggressive handball receive. 4 weeks C Petracca.
Player should have foreseen the serious fingernail injury sustained by Freo player.

More than anything I want to see some physicality all over the ground.

Nothing stupid, just no backward steps and especially stand up for Max as I expect most teams are going to keep coming for him.

MFCSS. Big time. My understanding is that Nichols is one of the umps so their is an air of armegedon about this game.

A 7 game forward is not under the blowtorch for goodness sake. Would be nice if his senior counterparts in BB and Tmac showed something so he can have a well deserved rest.
He is a kid who is giving his absolute all out there. He is not perfect and to expect anything else is frankly a joke.

I ask that you consider the nature of your future aspersions about Uncle's modis de transport, without further unnecessary ornamentation, whether simple or unrestrained.  In your case i will assume simple.

It be Scuttlebut.....pure scuttlebutt sir!

A Rolls Silver Shadow or a Hum V stretch limo ty.

Most likely the latter in order to ensure the safe carriage of the best of Le Romsey Chateau de Cardboard and Uncle's entourage of 'Manor help' who usually tuck in to his best carte de vins & poissons et crustaces without his knowledge once he's endulged somewhat.

Only the best for our Uncle!

All we heard pre season was the Dees training intensity was above all other teams. All bar 4 players today are premiership players from 2021, a year that we beat the Lions three times and absolutely destroyed Geelong (2022 Premiers) and the Bulldogs in the Preliminary/GF. Has the game changed that much? Have others teams gotten that much better? A lot of our guns are still in their prime as well as having a lot of young players from that year who have naturally progressed, Rivers being the prime example. I think our game plan hasn’t evolved and our disposal is terrible for long periods of games. 5-6 rounds in our accuracy was the best in the league. We have so much talent, we just need to tweak a few things and drop any arrogance we may be carrying and stop taking opponents for granted. This list should be able to achieve one more flag as a minimum. The fact we’re still having these types of discussions is very disappointing.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
