One of my modern favorites. I can only wish him all the best at the kennel.

He'll always be a demon in my eyes.

Future third round! Not much return. Basically we have let him go for not much due to good service in the past.

Goes to the Bulldogs and instantly lifts their tattoo game by four ladder spots.

Really happy for him to have secured an extra two years on his contract.

He'll always be welcome back, that much is certain.

A favorite, pity.

Throwing his hand out at full speed and a beutifull pass   how can anyone forget that.

like Jack Watts drilling the goal against the pies with Chunk all by himself, but he was not going to miss.

Some you never forget.  That one for Harmes in the GF     forever a favorite moment

a future 3rd (somewhere in the late 40s ) isn't  likely  in itself to  lead to a team improvement but it will free up some salary cap space .Many here believed that Harmes 2019 extension was one year too generous and i think they were correct .Hopefully Lamb and Taylors present strategy is to free up salary cap space to make a run for an A grader late in the trade period.

$500k in salary cap for a Casey player?

The F3 for Harmes will probably get us Fullarton.  In terms of the list we need a fwd/ruck backup more than a depth midfielder so I reckon an F3 is a good result.  Not to mention the sal cap saving.

Having said that love Harmes and love his story of playing for his beloved Demons, the club he supported all his life and earning a flag with them.  He lived every kid's dream!!  He has come a long way since being rookied so really happy for him and what he has achieved.

It wouldn't be easy for him to leave the Deesl.  Good luck at the Bulldogs!

Sad to see him go. Some players are so internally loved, they are heart-and-soul and are part of shaping the internal unity. I get this vibe from Harmes.

I'm also still a little unsure if losing all of Dunstan, Harmes and JJ equates to probable list improvement.

THAT kick to Fritsch in the 2021 GF - the tide turned.

All the best, Chompers.

All the best JH, you'll always be a much loved Demon and a member of a specil club.

All the best at the dogs.

All the best James. You have been a premiership player as well as a very good footballer.  Not many people can say that.

Cheers

Always sad to see a great Melbourne man go but it’s understandable.  Harmes seems like a fantastic person and I wish him luck.

Everyone keeps quoting this figure like it’s a huge AFL salary. It’s the average player wage in 2022.

Harmes in his best role is better than the average, Goodwin just doesn’t play him there.

Lost Dunstan, JJ and now Harmes. So let’s say Vineys foot flares up and Sparrow is injured. Who goes into the midfield?

As for Simon Godwin’s coaching. It carry questionable and average at best.

Do you mean Melbourne's first premiership coach in over half a century who has coached a team to top 4 H&A three years in a row???

If we are going full Henny Penny, let's say Brayshaw doesn't make it back either.

Crazy Bevo has similar if not better record breaking claims. Do you think Bevo is a fantastic coach?

I don’t.

Thank you for the wonderful memories Harmsey.

Perth 2021 GF was special in the flesh, lace out to Fritta, Peak Harmes in full flight, a sight to behold, been an absolute pleasure.

Premiership player for life. 🏆🥇🇱🇮

Not sure whether I should take anything from this, but haven't seen one story from MFC players on Insta regarding this....

May just be they are all on holiday and different timezone, but usually they are all sharing with their farewells...

Okay James.

Bailey Smith's ACL has just opened the door for Harmes at the Bulldogs while also reducing the chances that the trade could come back to bite us.

I'm still kind of hoping things work out well for Harmes individually. Especially if he has a bunch of performance triggers in his contract to soak up some salary cap space so that the Dogs can't afford to keep Tim English!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
