This kid reminds me of a young Stephen Tingay, let's hope he doesn't walk through any glass doors though....

I like that comparison.

24 touches and 14 marks in game number 2. Could be a NAB Rising Star nomination this week.

He may be the upside of losing 6 straight. Now he got his chance.

Really did look like he had something...great instinct and went in hard.

Will be very interested to watch his progress as he looks like he belongs already and the side believes in him.

14 marks...wow...would not have guessed that.

he showed some great composure at times yesterday and was not afraid to use the corridor!!

his kicking skills are sound, he has pretty good pace and is a good decision maker!!

another positive and a good sign going forward!!

Posted

he had 21 touches til 3/4 time...someone suggested he went off injured? any word?

he has looked impressive though. he hasnt been particularly damaging but he gets a lot of it which is important. getting more touches than sylvia anyway...

Posted

Oh i love him to!!!

He kinda reminds me of a young Nick Dal Santo with his nice skills and i dunno just does haha

Good Job Ricky!

very true, let's hope he doesn't have the same soft tissue injruies.

bit of attitude too, anyone notice him clap the port guy after kicking it on the full?

Been a bad year he is the best thing thats happend to Melbourne this year, but i would like to see newton play also

read my sig i put in at half time v swans

i loved watching him throw himself at the ball against the traffic and try and win the ball at CHF, great courage

Dunno about the next Tingay. Different sort of players IMO. Hope he has better luck with injuries!

Very pleased with Petterd thus far though. Kid is really showing he has the skills and smarts to become a good player. Add a few KGs to his frame, and more games under his belt, and he will be owning the HBF and pushing up into the midfield with great effect for years to come.

Posted

He was throwing himself into more contests than many seasoned players. He's got guts and skills, but I'll let him develop before i make any rash calls.

Deserves NAB rising star nomination though.

The kid can play and I can't wait to see more of him!!!

A couple more years in the gym and we will have one of the most determined, courageous and skillfull running backmen in the game!

Now that nearly gives me a chubby!

Yep, Pedro is set to be a real gun, his skills are just superb, so exciting! :D

Posted
the comparison to tingay is more for the reckless hardness in my eyes

True, I reckon he moves like a younger Tingay as well. If he bulks up well he could become a very damaging impact style of player just like Tingay too.

There's alot to like about the kid

is he going to be a backman or a midfielder? he is playing in the back at the moment but i get the feeling he will be a tough little wingman given the opportunity, and a pretty solid tagger in the centre for a while as while (although we have godders for that at the moment)

Once Bartram is fit, he should be played on the half back line, where he is both accountable and can give us good drive out of defence. This means Petterd can push onto the wing and get some tagging jobs under his wing. I think that every midfielder who isn't specifically an insider, should start out by being a tagger and doing jobs on the best in the business. It's the best way to learn IMO.

I think Petterd is only being used in the backline because Barts is injured, Brown is a liability down back, and Ward is well... Ward.

thats what i was thinking jaded but its good he is versatile and can kick a goal as well.

when i was watching the sydney game i was very impressed but kept thinking oh no why are we moving him, he was doing so well there, just let him settle. apparently he is up to it...

Posted

i waas the same deanox, i could figure out why he went from half forward to half back, to davis in the back pocket but he did well everywhere, a wing would be nice for him

Petterd has exquisite skills. Our skill level is a major reason why were are 0-6. Even our alleged best midfielders Bruce, Johnstone etc can't hit targets this season but Ricky is crisp and precise with his use of the ball. It's a pleasure to watch. Tim Watson said on the weekend that he's a player that wants to be involved, he's obviously confident in his ability and why not? I'm really looking forward to seeing him progress throughout the season

Coming to my boys' Auskick on Saturday morning - should be great to meet him and find out a bit more about him - although usually the kids ask the real in depth questions like "have you ever kicked it out of bounds?" He will be joined by Heath Neville.

auskick is for auskick people. not just dees dudes, wouldnt that be it

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
