Another classic game day thread

I really hate how we capitulate in quarters. It’s one thing to do against good teams. It’s embarrassing to do it against a side that doesn’t even want to win.Ā

I am furious after watching that quarter. Allowing the Hawks to play like that is inexcusable.Ā

Fumbling.Ā

Fritsch - what is going on? Does he need a spell at Casey?

And if I see another handball to a team mate's feet I will scream.Ā

Made to look ordinary by the 2nd last team on the ladder.

They had control in the centre easily.

Lift Dees FFS!!!!!!

Ā

Hunter, Chandler, Spargo, Fritsch, Sparrow quiet quartersĀ

There’s lots of seagulls here tonight.Ā

Why they waited til that quarter to play the ā€˜How to beat Melbourne’ method, who knows. They aren’t good enough to make it last of course, and don’t haveĀ the efficiency, but boy does it show once more how we can lose control of the game when ANY team plays that way. Troubling…..

Hopefully we saved the best for last. Hawks turned up the intensity that quarterĀ

Chandler needs to find a way to get involved.Ā

Langers and ANB are not in very good form.

Wrested back control when Max went in ruck.

Tracc and Oliver good.

Petty off messes up structure.

Cos I guess we’re going to eek a win v 18th??

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fieryĀ interaction between Max Gawn and Steven MayĀ at the end of the gameĀ was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
