This is what happens when you allow the concept of "interpretation" to creep into your rules and take hold. A totally bogus concept. What other sport entertains the concept of "interpretation" of its rules?

Well, I interpret that the muppets the AFL pay stupid amounts of money to don't have a clue and should be sacked.

That's my interpretation.

Can Brad Green's response to Pls Explain simply refer the AFL to the Appeal Board decision?

The Tribunal is not permitted to make [censored] up...!

Seems that'll suffice

The AFL would say that Brad's conduct reflects poorly on the AFL, to which Brad could include a second envelope stating that the AFL's conduct reflects poorly on the AFL.

One other good thing is that the verdict allows us to play JvR and resist the temptation of playing TMac immediately after a return from injury.Ā

Brad should tell the to F off, he's not paying when they carry on like a bunch of clowns.

I know, right! What is the world coming to!

brad green will probably be referred to the afl integrity unit who will recommend an independent hawthorn style inquiry.

If JVR wasn't already a MFC cult legend, he's definitely that now.Ā  Need to feed thIs guy the ball at every opportunity and help him to kick a bag of 5+ goals on the weekend.Ā  Would be the best reward for the week he's just had.

Reasons from Appeal Board chair Murray Kellam:

Law 18.5 refers only to incidental contact and makes no mention of unreasonable contact.

These laws and the drafting of them, in our view, support the contentions of the appellant (Melbourne) that law 18.5 must be read in its terms.

We recognise that the concerns expressed by the Chair of the Tribunal about an extreme characterisation of incidental contact have validity and that concern is, in our view, well justified.

However, that does not permit us to interpret rule 18.5 as containing additional words, or to introduce exceptions into the meaning of law 18.5, which is not supported by the text nor, as far as we can ascertain, the spirit and intention of law 18.5.

It's not for this board to redraft the laws of Australian Football in circumstances whereby the meaning of the law is clear on the face of it.

Accordingly, we conclude that ground one of the appellants notice of appeal succeeds. It's not necessary for us in those circumstances to determine ground two.

Reading that, in my deepest and most considerate colonial voice, makes me laugh.Ā

So seriously that took 4hrs tonight?Ā  They had like two days to get their heads around the issue.Ā  Or was it just all about the theatre?

FFS

Why couldn't they just get it right on Tuesday.Ā

These people should be sacked.Ā  Changed the argument and the logic to support the original flawed decision when it was shown to be a mistake from the start, now they just look like even bigger fools.

They must have went out for a Parma and a few pints surely.....

Clearly Michael Christian needs to study the laws of the game

Cult legend status confirmed all in the space of a year.

Arguably cost us the '63 Premiership.

It was replayed in both Hawaii and San Fran Cisco which Melbourne won 2-0. That gave us the flag 2-1 on aggregate. A bit like Liverpool and A.C Milan in 2005.

You are back in town @WalkingCivilWar?

Back from the Gold Coast? I flew back early Sunday morning. Unlike some of the others I don’t make a week-long stay of it. A teenage boy eating only 2-minute noodles for a week is grounds for calling CPS. 😁

I not long ago arrived home from banner making. The train rides and long walk home were spent awaiting the verdict. Thank god for Demonland. šŸ’•

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
