I keep repeating, every game  for us is a danger game. We can’t take any side for granted

Do you repeat it for

a) the players?

b) the forum?

c) yourself?

Good question

Guess it’s just a reaction to other posters who keep repeating that we are going to smash sides week in, week out

In: BB, Hibbo

Out: Turner, Harmes

Petty down back.

Pretty sure the flawed effort agains the Suns was because we had our minds already on the Hawks game.

Well, no. But, more seriously, we'll be wanting to prove a point as a team and I think a lot of players will be looking to prove a point individually that they belong in their roles.

Deep down I want to see us beat Hawthorn by a combined margin of 200 points over our two games against them this season. I don't really mind if that is by a few goals this time and 35 next time, any configuration will do.

Something about the arrogance of how cheerfully they admit that they are tanking fills me with hatred.

Out: JVR (rested), Turner, JJ, Fritsch
In: BBB, Hibberd (if fit), Spargo, J Smith

Happy to persevere with Petty at CHF. There’s no one else on the list who can give a contest and 2 way run.

BBB at full forward where he belongs. JVR a rest, get that knee (and elbow) a break.

Spargo back in, we need his pressure, smarts and skills.

Fritsch out would be a huge call, chuck an injury designation on it if needed, but come on, he can and should do so much more. And if BBB is in we need to make sure we aren’t losing tackle pressure forward, let Joel run around as a hit up and pressure forward

Hopefully we win this at home and yep it's back on the road for 5 from 10. Fgs. What a fixture.

Fritta stays in I think. Yea he had a Barry crocker but he's a gun forward. Tbh, we don't really have too many atm.

Yep. Fritsch out for Smith is a huge call. And a stupid one. Your most stupid onservation since you whinged about Sparrow's goal in the 3rd of the 21 GF and his long kick to Brown at the beginning of the 4th.  They remain the silliest football remarks i have ever heard.

Speaking for myself there's a lot more bravado than confidence in calling some wins. I think it stems from the lions and Don's game. I suspect however that I'm not alone.

Ahh yes, the time I pointed out that Sparrow’s decision making is one aspect of his game (and the teams) that meant he’s probably unlikely to become an A grader. Then I had 500 notifications calling me stupid. Now I have to defend Sparrow who’s an excellent role player from the same people.

Im happy to get worse to get better come round 9. That’s called player and team development.

Same re Petty anywhere other than backline .

I reckon D.S . been hacked 🤷🥴🙄

You know when D Spencer is hitting the bottle because of his inability to to control himself by making some ridiculous and outlandish comments.

Wanting Fritsch who's our current leading goal kicker dropped but keeping Petty forward and bringing in Joel Smith... absolute FMD.

You couldn't make this [censored] up.

Don’t worry guys, we can play 5 men short and Hawks will make sure they lose.

Yes, Fritsch out would be a huge call.

And an unbelievably terrible one.

You have no ability to park your bias. I don't care how much you can't stand aspects of Fritsch's game. He's just ended a 35-game goal-kicking streak and is regularly our leading goal scorer despite being asked to play taller, quicker and stronger than he actually is.

Dropping him off one poor game sends all the wrong messages to the side. There's striving to get better, and then there's being significantly, stupidly, overly ruthless.

And never mind then replacing him with J Smith, who isn't fit and has as many flaws in his game as Fritsch does.

Lol anyone who thinks Fritta will get dropped. Kick like he normally does and he ends up with his usual 3 goals.
But yes definitely let’s drop him for all those amazing goal kicking forwards currently not playing.

Geez there is some wrist slashing going on here tonight. We won the game. Road trips aren’t easy, nor is any game these days. The competition is very even, save for Hawthorn and West Coast. Bank the points and move on.

Ben Brown must come back in. Kicked three in the ressies. The week before he kicked 0.4. Poor conversion, but he was getting looks. JVR needs support, and Petty ain’t the answer.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
