Do you people ever read, the guy asked me a question and I answered how do you not get it?

I think the obvious point that we all get (except clearly you) is that if you are only interested in Melbourne's games why are you posting under this topic? Now there's lots of topics on this site that I'm not interested in so I don't read or post on them. That way I don't waste my or other people's time.

Game should have been done by 3/4 time. Adelaide were putrid in front of goal and then crapped their pants in the last. They went far too defensive when they had a tiny lead. It was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.

I love how Collingwood winning annoys everyone so much that we start arguing with each other.

Which, ironically, is what the filth supporters are famous for (more so fighting amongst each other)

Strange entities the lot of them

Fair enough. I like Melbourne's game style when we're on too. I didn't see a whole lot of analysis of the game style of Essendon, Geelong, Brisbane or Hawthorn in your post so I was just assuming you were using premiership wins as some sort of proxy for game style. Personally I'd take another Melbourne premiership ahead of game style any day!

Either did @ first crack as 95% of the show was on the Pies

You might need to look at who they've played and who we've played.

True. So if we just take in to account current top 8 sides we get -

Collingwood - 2 fourth quarters won (28 and 29 points), 1 lost (1 point) and 1 was a draw.
Melbourne - 1 fourth quarter won (27 points).

The one quarter that Collingwood lost by 1 point was against the same top 8 side that we won the final quarter against, that being Brisbane.

The other teams we've doubled up on are -
Essendon - Melb won the fourth by 9 points, Collingwood by 41.
Richmond - Melb won the fourth by 20 points, Collingwood lost it by 14.

In short what these numbers can accurately tell us is absolutely nothing. They are completely and utterly meaningless, but they are interesting to look at, nonetheless.

the beauty of the filth winning the close ones in the home and away season is it's just that much sweeter when they lose them in finals

Collingwood will be top 4 come end of the year, or in the 8 at the very least. Its assured.

Although it's natural to want them to lose every game, my thinking on these close ones switches instantly to 'Well they've knocked one of our top 4/8 competitors and prevented them from getting 4 points" the moment the siren goes and the deed is done.

Some may think Adelaide, Stkilda, Essendon, Port will fade as the year goes. But where they finished last year will make their fixture easier to stay contending for our position in the top 4. Every loss to the Pies is fine in that regard. Even though it's irritating seeing Maynard carry on like a pork chop.

The way things are shaping Kings Birthday could be the biggest H & A game this year. Great opportunity to demolish the filth on the national stage.

And it's our home game.   $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Richmond microwaves must be working overtime lately.  Crowd was only 23,664.

Image result for microwave fire emoji

People complain about our fans not turning up.

Rich have over 100,000 members, it was their Home game and it was a day game.  No excuses!!

Talking of crowds.  Hope non-member Dee fans are buying tickets for the KB game as it will probably sell out.

It would be great if we had more fans there than Coll and make more noise.  Hopefully, the neutral fans will barrack for us as well!

Maynard is just another would be thug that takes cheap shots at undefended players. Cue the ed langdon pile on. Just the se I'm in full agreement on pies winning. It ensure a melb basef team in top 4 and loweres the chances of interstate travel in week 1 of finals.

And at least pies fans turn up unlike the phantoms comprising tiger membership.

Turnovers are often not the fault of the player disposing of the ball

An example of that is a player who is under pressure kicking the ball 50 metres downfield to a contest ... and if that contest is won by the opposition then the player disposing of the ball is credited with a turnover

How is that fair?

Back in the day there was a saying ... "You called for it, you get it"

And a player having the ball kicked to him is by default, calling for the ball. And that player doesn't have to be actually calling for the ball or have an arm raised

He is there as a target if he plays on the same team

Why?  Because he is in a position downfield where the ball is at some stage going to be kicked to him

So the player who is calling for the ball should be credited with the turnover not the player who kicked it to him (unless the kick is way off line)

The turnover stats are therefore not accurate and are often clearly wrong

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
