They have played and won two of the double up games (GCS and Carlton).  Even if we count Lions games as losses that leaves eight very winnable games giving them a total of 13 wins at EOS.  They will most likely win a few others especially when their better players return and they are yet to play the Eagles.

Agree they will be nudging top 4. 

As an side, I'm not fond of the Saints but they are far from my most disliked team.  If we don't win the premiership I'm ok if they do.

The problem is if you have a generational defender you don't usually give them up. I'm a big fan of Weitering though and would have him in a heartbeat.

Right now Fremantle and Carlton don't look like finals sides. So their wins over the Dogs and Essendon look good. But even then, I'm not sure Essendon will keep it going all year.

Collingwood IMO is miles in front of any other side for flag favouritism. Geelong's beaten two (not even) VFL-quality sides and a Sydney side missing its back and forward lines. St Kilda see above. I'm unsure on Essendon keeping their form for another 18 weeks. Sydney's depth is non-existent and unlike previous years they're going to need it in 2023. Brisbane will win enough H&A games but they still don't defend well and have to get better away from the Gabba. Adelaide struggled to beat Hawthorn and strike me as a massive flash in the pan style side. Port Adelaide are hot/cold. Carlton have problems all over the place.

As for us? Well, I don't know. But I know we're not as good as Collingwood.

The other thing about St Kilda is they started this way last year too and were flying at 5 wins 2 losses (one loss by a point) until they met us in Round 8 and it all fell apart after that.

I think it's a little early, but given their defensive start (points conceded and what they're doing with their zone), they're definitely in the top 4 or 5 IMO.

A lot of people would be surprised to know that St Kilda at the same point last year were 5-1

gotta say, i love the defensive pressure the aints are putting on

it's a long season ahead, but there's no reason to think that they won't be back at the pointy end

it's almost like that ross lyon bloke knows how to coach defensive structures and get players to execute accordingly

With a very different draw last year.  Teams played twice:  Finalists:  Cats (GF), Lions (PF), Swans(GF), Freo (SF) and Hawks.  All played at least once in the second half and Swans twice in the second half.  This year's double games:  Lions, Suns, Hawks, North, Tiges and Carlton.

Now the fixture shouldn't make that much difference but sadly it does.  Finish low and get rewarded:  Saints 2022/23.  Finish high get penalised:  Freo 2022/2023.

But the Saints are a much better team this year.  Wouldn't underestimate them.

Umpire favourites for week.

Paying short passes of less than 15 mtrs.

Undoubtedly they beat the other possible alternatives in Pies, Cats, Bombers, Brisbane etc 

They’ve seen so little success, I would be really happy for their fans if they won it. I just despise Ross Lyon.

Good chance this would be true for 80% or more AFL fans.  He really isn't that likeable, but choosing St Kilda over nearly every club except your own is quite easy. 

Two numbers of significance that may just see St Kilda break the drought year.

Best result, then, is a draw I suppose with both teams and their supporters disappointed.

Did we all enjoy Augie March playing during the pregame? They’re arguably the most underrated Australian band ever. I guess they had to sing I was only 19 as it’s fitting, but their original music is quite something else.

You were right, he kind of has his wrist turned back and opens his palm towards the ball.

The balls energy seems to be absorbed by his elbow movement, which if he has freedom from opponents works well to bring the ball in. If he gets it a bit wrong, out it pops, off those palms. It doesn't pop out too far, as there is some cushioning. Would prefer his wrist to be part of the give. Also noticed that Brody has a similar technique (palms of the hand are turned forward).

I’d say it was 2:1 Dees to Tigers. The Melbourne supporters came, and they really brought the noise. The booing at the umpiring early was only out done by the cheering in the last.

I thought we sounded great last night. Was a really proud night for the footy club and it’s supporters.
