GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs West Coast

Featured Replies

Any chance we could get out of 3rd gear for 10-15?

Sure umps are gonna try and keep them in it, but if we really wanted to work for it and each other, thatโ€™d sort it all out.

ย

Spago needs to look where heโ€™s kicking.ย

Spargo crikey blimey

ย

This umpiring is genuinely atrocious.ย

Nothing more predicable than West Coast coming out hot and Melbourne putting on this sort of low quality display

Kicking abysmal. Even Spargo butchering it.

ย

Whats with the worm burning kicks inside straight to a WC defender lol?

Jeez we're making hard work of it. West Coast dragging us down to their level and beating us with experience?

1st halfย

not pretty.ย
clangers and clangers and clangersย

ugly.ย
really ugly.ย

Comedy of errors right now. Just you wait for some shmuck to come in here and say that "By reading the comments it sounds like we're 5 goals down!"ย

What is it with these dinky kicks into the forward 50??

Sun in the eyes??

If we were playing even a half decent team we would be getting killed, could it be the heat that isnโ€™t agreeing with us, nibblers jumper looks soaked in sweat.ย

Enough Hollywood Melbourneย

Agreed. Maybe if we are 80 points up, but not before.

The Melbourne team of last week would be running rings around Melbourne of this week. Once again itโ€™s all mental application.

Viney has to have the lowest football IQ brain that has ever played for Melbourne.

A fair shake from the umps nobody ever said.

Viney had his head taken off.

Every tackle play on.

Fair dinkum, the biased umpiring in the West Coast games should come under investigation. Of course nothing will happen with the protected species they are. Makes watching so hard.ย

What exactly is this free for?

Keep the game close.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Nightโ€™s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourneโ€™s memorable premiership triumph.

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • PREGAME: Fremantle

After a stunning victory over the Saints in the first round of the Season the Demons head over to Perth to take on the Dockers who choked in their first match against the Cats. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven Kingโ€™s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
