I'll be watching the match at The Sporting Globe in Richmond. Anyone else going there?

Ordinarily I would be, Bingers (like last year) but today I’ll be watching at the London in Richmond coz a Dees friend is celebrating his birthday there.

T Mac and Sparrow better have great games to justify inclusion

JJ was in the top 6 last week and Sparrow in the bottom 6

I'm not convinced TMac is fit enough at the moment and may be terminally injured

Boy, you’re just a big ol’ bundle of joy, aren’t you.

Happy Easter!

If computer is connected to the tv the Casey game will also be on the big screen.

What time is the Casey game @Lucifers Hero?

Hopefully we can build on last week's fine performance. Chandler, McVee and JVR to continue to find their feet and improve. Would be great if TMac could a snag a couple to help his confidence.

And if we get the scent of blood in the water, I want us to ruthlessly crush the Eagles. No mercy. They wouldn't spare us if the shoe was on the other foot.

Well if we are serious we should win & win well.

West coast have so many injuries it's not funny but I hope these players don't go into the game thinking we'll coast to victory.

Go boys put in a show

Yeah this is my fear, a team full of fringe players can be a so unpredictable.

Just went to the Romsey Market to get a coffee and on impulse ( cold day etc) purchased 2 jam doughnuts.

Upon return to The Manor, I discovered that neither "jam" doughnut contained any jam!!!!

I hope that's not some sort of portent for bad luck today!

I see what you've done there. Our highest ever score is 28.14 (twice) 🤔

Sold!!!

We had a team of fringe players for 10 years and it didn’t work for us. Sadly we were very predictable.

Are you contacting your slew of lawyers on retainer? I'm guessing you still ate all the evidence. ( or lack of).

Was just about to post the same thing Azz. Having said that I have put Kossie to have 20plus disposals and kick two goals into my same game multi.

I'd rather a scoreline along the lines of 40.10.250 to 7.6.48 myself.

I'm hoping @Redleg will act on my behalf - pro bono  of course.

You left out watching Casey on the manor computer before the main event.

Time to open the spindle on the Shiraz de Wine Cask 2023 to enjoy while watching the 2 games.

Maybe even defrost the party pies and make a real celebration of the day.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
