no game on friday night

what a joke

It is and they are giving Rugby League free air tonight

And it's a good match too ... Cowboys/Dolphins

Reckon we should dispense with pre-season games and start when RL starts ... 25 game season

Straight into it

And play a game Good Friday evening ... maybe a 6pm start so that the Royal Children's appeal gets the last 3 hours of the day

i wonder how many footy supporters are active christians? but i recognise the hypocrisy of enjoying a day off work when not being religions

the footy would be a great vehicle to raise money for the appeal. give part of the gate or tv money and promote it

I remember the days when we played very little sport on Sunday's. Cricket Test matches had a rest day on Sunday's back in the day.  Pubs were closed and supermarkets couldn't open either

Times have changed and integration for worthy causes and sport is the new way.  As you said, tie the evening game in with the appeal. It's a no-brainer

This afternoon's game was very much in aid of the Good Friday Appeal. I don't know the exact details though. I suspect that the reason it is an afternoon game rather than an evening one is due to Channel 7 being a major player in the appeal and the evening telethon.

Umps doing what Carlton can't.

It’s actually embarrassing now, two weeks in a row they have been given games, by incompetent officiating.

That non free to Zurhaar is one of  the worst decisions I can recall and no surprise it was number 1 Donlon, who I think even drove the Blues home in their bus.

Just watching a replay of today’s game, can someone please explain why the Kangaroos have green on their jumpers?

I was wondering, given this was a Norf home game, why they couldn’t wear their traditional jumper?  There isn’t even a clash  WTF?

I would say it's a special jumper designed around the good friday appeal that has green in it to & they'll probably be signed and auctioned off for the appeal

Ha ha!  It was 10-6 when I made that initial post ... a free scoring affair thereafter.  Like an underdog so barracking for the Flippers

Much rather be watching AFL though ... over the 5 days the AFL manage to have 2 games clashing with each other on Saturday night

Bulldogs/Tigers moved from the Saturday twilight slot to tonight with 1 of the Sat evening games played Sat twilight?

Wtf Jesus Christ

interesting case

indigenous man claiming he was sexually assaulted in showers by 3 players in the 80's when he was a 16yo playing in u19's and living in a club owned house.

he is suing club not the alleged assailants. he is unnamed as are the alleged assailants.

given it allegedly happened 40 years ago i doubt anyone working at the club then is still there.

The irony is that the height of the religious day for Good Friday is 3pm. Ceremonies are over by 4pm.

The absence of a night game ???

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
